Does anyone know which standalone/set-top DVD players available in UK will play MiniDVD (cDVD) discs.

Apparently the Sharp 740 is a Sampo clone and should work - anyone got any info please?

(Multi region and Macro off would be nice but not essential)

Can't you tell from whether your normal dvd player has a 3" dip in the loading tray to place the DVD on? thats how it worked with miniCD's....

Soz, MiniDVDs are DVD quality mpeg2s burned onto CDR discs

I have created minidvd's and played them on my encore 450 player. They are in very short supply but you can try one of the sampo clones that have the same insides as the encore.

Any of the players that appear in my signature list will do it, with the exception of Wharfedale M5s fitted with version 1.7 firmware (sadly, the majority at the moment)
