View Full Version : Cape Fear
I have never seen either version of the above mentioned movie and noticed that they are coming out as a double pack. I was wondering what the film is like and if it is any good?
Is there a trailer of the movies anywhere on the net?
Comments would be appreciated

I haven't seen these either but after reading the reviews, I'm definately going to check them out.
1991: http://www2.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=4&articleId=3137
1962: http://www2.r2-dvd.org/article.jsp?sectionId=4&articleId=3145
I have not seen the original so can't comment on that but I have seen the updated Scorcese version. I find it a completely claustrophobic experience. The direction is tight and fast. Pretty stylish as well. Acting from all is excellent, esp. Mr De Niro who excels.

The Scorsese film is a fascinating case of a mainstream film being made by a non-mainstream director, although it's obvious throughout that he regarded it as beneath him (and was in fact only doing it as a favour to Universal for standing by him over the <i>Last Temptation of Christ</i> controversy).
The 1962 original is a good, solid generic thriller, with few frills but plenty of thrills, and a fine Robert Mitchum performance, although it occasionally feels like an inferior riff on his <i>Night of the Hunter</i> performance.
So when is the release date for the double pack?
What is it to be like in terms of the R1 set?
(I'm right in saying there is an R1 set available, I think)

In other words - big budget TV movie....
...with stars!
Both are excellent films.
