I have a Toshiba 36" CRT that can display the xbox360 HD output 480p.
I am using the Microsoft component connection leads (premium pack) with the switch set to HD (can't remember the actual label).
I have my Xbox360 set to display 480p.

Its all great playing games - staggering improvement than SDTV (even being at 480p - wonder what 720p is like......)

However when I attempt to watch a DVD - I get no display .

Can someone explain why?

what happens? the dashboard comes up and then you open the drawer and put a DVD in (you have tried more than one R2 PAL DVD right?) and then the drawer closes and the display goes black?

... yeah... just load a DVD as normal (All R2 DVDs) and play disc.

I just hear the sound - no picture.
Only when I flick the switch on the component leads back to normal display do I see a picture.

I assume its something to do with Prog. Scan on CRT tvs, I assume people with Plasmas/LCDs (HD) can watch DVDs at 480p.

I get this on my LCD connected via component. It doesn't show the picture but plays the sound. Displays fine when I change back to normal on the component lead. Never worked out why unfortunately but I don't use my 360 for DVDs anyway.
