A decent enough season opener. Interesting that they've advanced the show by six months. Some good laughs & interesting new storylines. However, what an Appalling attempt at an English accent by Dougray Scott! :gag:

Glad to see it back but that accent was

However, what an Appalling attempt at an English accent by Dougray Scott! :gag:

Agree with you on that!

Other major laugh was Bree at the doctor, quality - 'I think I may have had a small stroke!'

I don't remember any english characters!

I thought it was pretty disappointing, save for the final shot

The accent wasn't quite as bad this week

TonyG

Yeah, he seems to have dialled it back a little .... this week's episode wasn't as fun as the season opener but still watchable as ever.

Richie
03-10-2006, 00:01
It's still fun but I've got that niggling feeling that the show is just now going to endlessly repeat itself. Last season a second house burnt down (copying season 1) and in the first episode of this season there was a confrontation at a party about an alleged murder that was exactly the same setup as a scene in season 2!
That said the characters are still superb (Bree and Gabby especially) and the new elements (like Tom's other family) provide some great comedy.
I just hope there's a stronger central plotline to cover the whole of this season because Season 2's Applewhite "mystery" sucked donkey balls!

camaj
03-10-2006, 01:11
Wasn't the house burning supposed to be a copycat crime anyway?

No doubt this series has started slowly, never mind. I wonder who the dead woman is? I'm glad to see Laurie Metcalf as the "mad woman" and I'm glad they're still keeping Kathryn Joosten's character around

Richie
03-10-2006, 01:25
Wasn't the house burning supposed to be a copycat crime anyway? Yes but it was still pretty lazy to shove it in to get the same "laugh" twice (Susan's kitchen had already also exploded in season 1 as it was).
I dunno, I'm probably still too critical of this show because of such a great 1st season and such squandered promise in season 2.

Season 1 was great, season 2 just annoyed me and so far season 3 just seems more of the same.

For me, its obvious they just couldnt keep up the interest after season 1 concluded the dramatic story. The fact that the dead woman is still narrating and the housewives lives are now just boring seems to point this out well.

Yep caught up with this season last night and its all a bit samey now. Still Eva Longeria is still seriously foxy.

Orson to the body in the morgue: "Tu me manques, Monique" ("I miss you Monique")
Bree sure knows how to pick 'em!

Dougray Scott's accent is so awful! Is he trying to 'do' Cary Grant or something? Why the hell didn't they just go with his regular scottish accent, at least then he wouldn't sound like a total ****!

Watched the 2nd last night, poor Gabby!! feel sorry for lynnette cant be easy for her.
As for Bree and that muppet, but hopefully that should be a good story line for the series.

Thanks for that, I could only work out the Monique bit

It would be fantastically uber-cool if we eventually discover that Orsen is actually Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks, who we last saw being possessed, hence why he has homicidal tendencies. :D

Yeah this weeks was good, except of course the Aussie/Irish/Scottish/English/South African accent dude (grrr), lots of laugh moments.

Nice to see Bree's kids back too, Andrew might cause some trouble =) (well will).

I didn't believe that John could be SO successful so quickly though :oh-hum: (plus Jesse 'eyebrows' Metcalfe is smugness personified)! :gag:

Desperately trying not to read this thread but really want to know if it's improved or not - I have all three episodes ready to watch (and in pristine HD no less) but my girlfriend's away for a couple of days and I can't view them without her :(

Richie
11-10-2006, 22:41
A big "yes" really Grandmaster (apart from one appalling accent)!

Grandmaster
11-10-2006, 22:45
Great :) I still enjoyed the second season, just nowhere near as much as the first. The wit was there, it's just that the storylines were going nowhere and the Applewhites thread was a borefest. Great to know it's back on the up again.

He slept with her? (Couldn't think of another way of mentioning her)

Great episode (again), I thought that Danielle would kill herself towards the end of the season, rather than the attempted suicide at the near beginning of this episode - although wonder what Orson's connection is to suicide in the family? Might have a son/daughter in the past who committed suicide? Maybe a siblin?

Is Julie legal yet?
:)

Was hoping the Danielle thing would be slightly longer (i.e. her getting him fired being a separate episode rather than a comment to her mother)... oh well

Still great episode =)

TonyG
23-10-2006, 23:26
Yup, another good episode, the writing is so much better this season, made me laugh a number of times.

Funnily enough, I was wondering if Julie is of age ... Alas she is still on 16 ... *sigh* :D

Given up on this, just the same boring stuff week in-week out.

Shame as the first season was tops, and I thought I'd give it another chance after the mediocre second season...

NicolaUK
24-10-2006, 09:30
I'm really enjoying this season, Edie is such a cow

Who was Julie's friend? I've seen her in something else.

TonyG
24-10-2006, 09:34
Julie's friend was bugging me for ages, then it finally dawned on me ... she was Andre Braugher's daughter in the short-lived series, "Thief".

NicolaUK
24-10-2006, 10:00
I never saw that so it can't be her - she does look a bit like Peaches Geldof though and with the level of exposure she's getting these days maybe I'm thinking of her

TonyG

Ah yes, George Michael's girlfriend :D

OH MY GOD! I couldn't place her either! (just like Michael in AD!) :D
Ann was brilliant!

Anyone else noticed that they seem to be styling the girls in DH like they are all living some horrendous '80s nightmare? Look at Danielle and Julie's friend Sarah in this episode, looks like they just walked off the set of Valley Girl!

Well, this has been coasting along fairly limply for a while now but I have to say the latest episode (07) was fantastic!

Carolyn callously gunning down Nora like that was a total shocker

Brilliant acting (as ever ) from both Laurie Metcalf and Felicity Huffman.

carysinthe2k
06-11-2006, 17:19
Totally agree, haven't been all that enthralled in the series so far this series, but this one brought DH back to it's best!

Couldn't believe the way they killed off Nora - I never liked her but that was totally unexpected!

tipicus
13-11-2006, 12:10
I wouldn't exactly describe Eva Longoria as ugly!

Show seems to be taking a nicely darker turn now after the fluffiness of the first few episodes. I really hope someone offs the Dougray Scott character soon though, that accent seems to get worse every time he opens his mouth.

So... for those obviously not cool enough to know anything related to hard core partying of sexy fit female models, what's a Gomorrah party?

Rupert rocked, better than accent dude.

He got rid of the toys to a Children's charity... why not my house!!! *sniff* although after seeing countless Smallville episodes, it was obvious we'd never see that set up again...

Andrew & Danielle ... have they just been promoted to extras at the Dinner table? Every time, I see them they're just sitting there, eating at the table, good work if you can get it.

And why is Orson 'poor'? The house he had looked grande enough, he lives with Bree now, but Bree kicking him out.... woa only been married for like 7 episodes.

"I suppose the Christian thing to do would be to forgive her" ... brilliant

Well no more episodes till Jan 2007... ending kinda expected, but I didn't expect Mr Swimsuit Jnr to actually leave, was hoping he'd stay a bit more since his sister died.

Accent dude buying a "PIRANHA" of a lawyer (said in the worst accent possible) .. interesting dilemma though, I thought (hoping) he'd leave too.

Although I hate Thanksgiving/Christmas episodes.

Anyone want to bet on either Danielle or Julie getting pregnant (it seemed to hint slightly that it'll end up going in that direction during this episode, well by hint, I meant teenagers + sex is always teenage pregnancy).

I'd go with Danielle just to make Bree's storyline even more dramatic, but I'd prefer Julie (actually I'd prefer both to experiment with each other*, but alas no).

No idea who flowers man is.

Still nice episode, and Paul Young is back! =)

Okay, there's a MASSIVE plot hole in this otherwise superb season that I just can't figure out and it's driving me  !
HOW was Orson able to marry Bree when Alma only went missing "last year"? They weren't divorced, no body was found during the period between her disappearance and the new wedding and what I assume to be less than a year isn't long enough to be declared dead is it? And now she's back and living on Wisteria Lane, surely Bree's and Orson's marriage is null and void? Yet at no time has anyone mentioned this!?!?! Wouldn't it be just a tiny bit important?

Did I miss something earlier in the season that explained this? (all Orson refers to when he proposes to Bree is "the day Alma left me... was the luckiest day of my life because it meant I was free when I met you!")

Other than that (oh and bloody 'Ian Hainesworth' - please someone kill him off soon, or at least crush his voicebox so he can't speak with that dreadful accent!) this season is back to season 1's glorious heights (and 'Bang' was the single best episode of the 3 seasons so far)!

Must resist the above post spoiler in case it is about the latest ep rthe other night as I did not watch all of it.

I did however guess straight away that Brees daughter was sleeping with the teacher. It was so obvious to me by the mannerism's when in the scene at the school about her being so interested in History

What is the connection between Orson and Mike??? I know that he is the one who did it at the end of the last series, but beyond that I am at a loss as to why the need to do so.

Right, erm so it was 'Desperate Husbands' this week then! Nice to have Rex back! sort of!
That Ian is still the biggest tit on telly! Such a stupid accent! :oh-hum:
Can anyone explain to me if Edie's brat has EVER been mentioned before or if this was one of those "shoe-horn a kid in to help humanise and soften the character" things? I despise it when shows do that. It just makes me go eh? wtf?! :brickwall

She left on an extended honeymoon with Orson.

The last two episodes have been very funny & raunchy, they seem to be drawing attention away from the fact that there is currently no storyline at all, by having all the actresses parade around in lingerie, which obviously works for me. :n0rty:

You should be safe from the missus :D as it was not shown at all on E4. I am assuming you mean the "next" ep at 11.00pm after the one that is shown on C4? We normally have a sneaky look at this one after the C4 ep has finished.

You just know Edie will be back next season. First ep will be someone saving her just in time.

At least the comedy gold will be back with Carlos and Gabrielle. Love those two together.

Season 3 was a VAST improvement on the appalling season 2.
