Well, just finished watching that off BBC3 (thank you Topfield!) and not a bad episode, more like the Spooks of old I thought with all the plotting going on.

Wished Ruth and Harry would just get on with it, they both seem so closed off emotionally. Even Malcolm was willing it on as he watched them by

Foreign Secretary to me was so obviously Gordon Brown, with all his African summits, and I suspect what he said about "getting a few pop stars off our backs" was a politico's dig at Bono and Sir Bob.

Trying to work out who Styles was supposed to be - John Boulton? And there have been stories circulated about large amounts of weaponry confiscated by NATO from the former Yugoslav states ending up in the Horn of Africa in the hands of groups fighting the Somali Islamic Court grouping, so I guess that formed the basis of the whole Global Cordon thing.

Looks like Adam is going to pieces faster than Tom ever did though, his wife's death is obviously tearing him up. Thought he was going to top himself near the end.

And Roz, well seriously what did she expect? Her dad was an active plotter in a coup against the UK government, did she really think he would be out in 5? :cuckoo:

The very thought of Ruth and Harry together is :gag: The King and Queen of Fug! :gag: Ewww the thought! :gag: Need to bleach my eyes! :gag:

Adam's such a big girl! Surely he shouldn't be 'active' if every little shooting in front of him is going to set him off! ******* cry baby!

Surely Adam needed to put on a more professional face than that? Why would an MI5 agent be so upset that an assassin had been shot? He pretty much gave the game away.

Did you see the preview for episode 5x05? Looks like Ruth could be in some hot water!

MUCH, MUCH, MUCH better. Opening 2 parter of this series couldn’t have been any more cartoony if Tom and Jerry had been seconded to MI5. Third was blah as well. Sleeper Cell has done that story with more style and depth although it was nice seeing a shooting on Farringdon road.

This was nice and convoluted and contained, although the music was slathered on pretty heavily for my liking. It’s now used to underscore practically everything. Almost as omnipresent as Murray "inch thick" Gold‘s score (I use the word in it’s loosest possible sense) on Doctor Who.

Rupert/Adam could have reigned it in a little at the end but in all I thought it was a nice echo of the events of the previous season. I hope the rest are up to this standard as I re-watched season 4 last week and ran straight on with season 5 and the first 3 eps (opening 2 parter especially) paled in comparison.

At the moment to me seems like Adam is pretty much going to end up going into meltdown.

Yep is kinda annoying seeing as what her dad was responible for, thnking he should get off.

Ironic really that her Dad's sentance was a rare bit of total unbelievability from Spooks - any politician who gets prosecuted these days (very rare thanks to their friends and contacts usually) would have suddenly a incurable illness that mysteriously disappears after a six month spell in Ford Open Prison!!

Good episode I thought. I think next weeks trailer looked promising.
Looks like someone is going to be set up.

Something throughout the whole show that has got me thinking has been the actual amount of spying that is possible. Like tapping in to cameras and bugging various conversations. It makes you wonder how many times we are watched as a general public.

Third episode was OK while a bit rushed. This episode is more of the Spooks I like to see. I can guess this is pretty much what goes on, friendly nations snooping on each other and trying to manipulate outcomes and events.

Best one of the series so far, a throughly enjoyable hour. The whole Adam crying over her death before it brought back memories of the death of his wife, didn't sit comfortably with me for some reason.
