Its the same as the PC demo.

Gfx look similar but with the lower res textures - didnt feel right playing it with a controller though.

Def worth a look if you havent played the PC version IMO.

Worth a download, haven't played the PC version, but saw it running on my mates PC and looked my cup of tea.

have the full game for PC but my graphics card is a bit crap and it runs like a slideshow during fire fights.

Had the demo for a week or two on the demo disc, it's ok. I hope they add, one press of the stick to crouch instead of holding it down

Clumsy controls, slo-mo makes no sense (comes on at times i want to run and hide), just doesn't feel "right" really, and the pistol and machine gun are pathetic.

I really liked FEAR on PC, even if it did get dead samey on later levels - I'm downloading the 360 demo now but I thought the screenies and vids I've seen looked a bit dowdy... like downsampled texture city.

feels like Condemned only not as smooth.

Played through it in 30 secs. It's a shame it's the same as the PC demo. Ho hum. Fair bit of detail pop-in that certainly wasn't in the PC version.

I don't understand how Condemned can have such great lighting FX and hi-res textures, and this looks so dowdy, grey and raggedly.

Other than it's a Rushed Slightly Rubbish Port.

According to one of the program team it's an exact port but better! He says it's got HDR now but the rests the same.

Condemned is definitely better. Fear made me feel ill it was that jerky. I played a demo of the new Sonic game and that made me feel ill too.

He's lying - the textures are downsampled and there's posterisation that was never there before. Plus, there's detail pop-in on the models.

Looked okay but just felt wrong, nothing there that makes me want to buy it.

IGN like the full game:

Sounds like it's much improved over the demo.

The pistols were awesome in the PC version, frequently went round with dualies. I don't see why they would change thier effectiveness. Do the rifles still have no single shot capabilities in the 360 version? Being forced to always have burst fire really bugged me.

Been playing today and the 1st thing you notice is how much better it looks and handles than the demo. Quite like the game but not worth the UK retail price, best to get it cheap

Was playing this at the weekend, mainly on live though as I've just signed up and think the multiplayer is great. Might just be becuase it's the only game I've played on live. Didn't get far in the single player but does look and play much better than the demo.

If what I'm reading is true, then I'm glad they fixed the choppy frame rate and low res graphics of the demo. :)

anephric
13-11-2006, 17:05
I've read it's exactly the same, graphics-wise. The framerate's supposed to be fine throughout but they didn't fix the aim assist.

I took a chance on this after my dislike for the demo, and IMO it's well worth the price on Play-Asia (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://www.play-asia.com/SOap-23-83-1p3h.html)

The graphics are great, the framerate was better than the demo, aiming is ok but I felt the characters movement was too quick, not a problem when you get used to it.

The game was good, my only problems is that there's too many health packs, you never felt in danger, so it's not really scary (1 part made me jump :D). I loved the gore, you can literaly blow people in half and the room gets covered in blood!

Eurogamer Review (http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=69931) scores a surprising 9 out of 10! ... I've still got this in its wrapper, tempted to give it a go before GOW arrives later this week..... Aaaarrggghhh! Too many games!

Has the aiming been changed from the demo then, I really liked the look of this until I played the demo and it just felt clumsy and awkward to play. If it's been changed then I'll go ahead and pick it up, seeing as it's cheap from PA.

Goblin
14-11-2006, 15:07
no, the aiming is the same, tbh I didn't find a problem with the aiming apart from the fact it was too quick, I just set it to the slowest speed in settings.

Didn't Eurogamer give Gears of War 8? And they give a lacklustre port of a two-year-old PC game 9?

Idiots.

You know those IBM ads in Computer Weekly that have the most boring grey office space in the world, as a parody of staid IT geekery? That's what this game looks like. Over and over again.

Got this and really enjoying it. Multiplay is great fun and the single player is extremely eerie.

Finally started this after completing COD3 yesterday. Seems much improved from the demo. Zero framerate issues & much better graphics/textures. The initial few levels stuck in that factory/warehouse does get tiring very quickly but the combat more than makes up for this. Especially getting in a massive firefight in slo-mo mode looks & plays fantastically. Much more exciting than the combat in GOW. Also the AI seems to better, as the bad-guys flank you more intelligently & advance on you quickly if you try & sit back & pick them off, one at a time.

Gamer-point whores steer clear though. Just played for over 3hrs & only scored a measly 10pts. Looking at the other achievements, it's going to take a LOT of effort to score reasonable points.

Holy thread resurrection!

After having this sitting around for a while (traded for it ages ago) have given it a whirl over the past week and I'm really enjoying it.

Creepy atmosphere and plays really well, great using the slo-mo in firefights and checkpoints are used sensibly. The environments are all a bit dowdy I suppose but doesnt detract too much from the game.

After playing a lot of open ended games recently (GTA, Mercernaries, Fallout, Saints Row 2) it is nice to just have pretty much one route to follow and not get sidetracked.

When I've finished this got to work through another couple of oldie FPS's in Timeshift and Blacksite!

I traded this in a while back because I needed the money at the time and am now regretting it because it can't be bought anywhere. :(

Having said that, I got FEAR Files for a fiver a month ago and haven't got round to playing it at all yet.
