What are the best games out at them moment on the 360? About to get one, which comes with PGR3 and Far Cry. So what are the other games I should get?

I still think Call of Duty 2 is an excellent game, it's still the best shooter. Also Saint's Row is good too.

Two launch titles you might miss... I really enjoyed Kameo, as a cheap eBay pick-up it's good value. Condemned would be too, if you can get that cheap. Scary though, and pretty much zero replay value unless you want achievements.

Geometry Wars from Live Arcade is essential.

And whack Far Cry on eBay? Most reports say it's pretty uncontrollable and not much cop. COD2 would be a great swap for that - play through on the top difficulty for all of the achievements and an incredibly hard, but thoroughly satisfying, challenge.

Lego Star Wars II
Dead Rising (stick with it ;) )
Condemned

Kameo was pretty average IMHO - now there are a few more games out there I wouldn't bother unless you love that kind of thing.

Condemned is pretty sweet though and as Max Maz says CoD2 is excellent, probably my favourite thing on it so far.

I've just finished playing through Oblivion which was awesome if you like RPGs

STFU!!1 ;)

He's right though - it's a good game if that's your kind of thing. Zelda-lite with a bit more focus on combat, and it's fun to replay the combat levels for high scores due to the way the multiplier system works. I thought so anyway :dork:

Geometry Wars from Live Arcade is essential.

If he's getting PGR3 he can have a play on it in the garage by using the arcade machines.

Another vote for Kameo.

Dead Rising does have its flaws but it bloody good fun (PUN).

Geometry Wars on XBLA.

Condemned is fantastic, but it's a once-through only affair.

I've enjoyed these on the 360 to date....

Call of Duty 2
PGR3
Oblivion (book a week off at least before buying!)
Saints Row
Lego Star Wars 2
Blazing Angels (well some-one had to!;))

Saints Row isn't as good as it thinks it is. I though I would love it, as I've played all the GTA games to death, including liberty city stories, but this doesn't hold a candle to them.
Luckily I got it in a deal and it was free.

Test Drive Unliimited is my other game and that is a must have.

I agree. Very over rated game.

Call of Duty 2 and Oblivion are still the best games on the 360 to buy if your PC isn't powerful enough to play them.

The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion

Condemned

I'd pretty much agree with that list :notworthy

I think Ridge Racer 6 is also worth a mention

Another vote for Condemned (awesome single player, if a little short)

Also:
COD2 - still my most played online.
Halo 2 ;)
Dead Rising - frustrating, but strangely addictive.
GRAW - difficult, but absorbing singleplayer
Hexic :D

Good thing about Condemned is that its dead cheap to pick up these days, almost tempted to get it myself.

My fave games so far have been :-

Saints Row
Dead Rising
Ridge Racer 6
Oblivion
Tomb Raider
Table Tennis
GRAW
Hitman

COD 2 is so much fun. You have to drag yourself away from it though or your eyes will pop.

i have borrowed something like 15 games from a friend and out of all the games i borrowed i bought

pgr3 (a must have imho)

maden 06 (12 quid on ebay)
lego star wars

the rest of his games i either didnt really like or simply never got round to playing them because the listed above are just to good imho.

PGR3 and GRAW were a great introduction into 360 land.

Table Tennis simply because of how cheap it is yet such a great game..
Test Drive Unlimited is my fave right now, especially on live.

Burnout Revenge would've been on the list but I finished it on my PS2 before I bought my 360. Not worth buying it again just for the prettier graphics and new car.

Good thread; I was going to ask the same question as I'm thinking of picking up a 360 (mostly tempted by the upcoming HD-DVD capabilities)

Call of Duty 2 and Condemned, I wasn't sure about both of them at first, but it didn;t take long for me to realise that both were a bit special.

In order of preference:

I loved Call of Duty 2 , excellent, can't wait for COD 3.
I bought Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter thinking it'd be like Full Spectrum Warrior and was disappointed it wasn't, but still enjoyed playing it for a long while. I just sold it on Ebay.
Burnout Revenge is fun but either I've got very good at it or it's not as challenging as Takedown

PGR3 I quickly got bored of it and sold it within a few weeks.

COD2
Battlefiled 2
Saints Row

If you like Star Wars then Lego SW is a must.
