Does getting the offical XBox High Definition AV Pack improve the picture quality over any other 3rd party component leads you can get for the Xbox. I know that the offical xbox leads have the digital sound input where some 3rd party leads dont, but other than that is there a difference.

Surely having to connect component leads into a box and then the box into the back of the xbox would weaken the signal as its going through more connections unlike a standard component lead. Was looking at getting the Monster component cable, as these are surpossed to be the best 3rd party component leads you can get and has Digital Sound input aswell. So does the offical Xbox pack doing anything extra??

I've got the Monster component cable and the PQ is excellent. Beware though, the Monster digital out socket is not a regular socket so you can't just use any old optical lead you have lying around ... :suspect:

Do you get any component leads with that?

No, I used a QED Silver component cable that I had.

But at what resolution?
All the boxes work at 480p, it's only when you select 720p/1080i that the problems start to show.
I have yet to see a box with a switch (like this one) work at 720p without severe ringing.

Running at 720p with no problems at all.

Hard vertical outlines give a dimmer duplicate image slightly to the right of the original.
Very noticable on white text against a dark background.

I use the component lead that was supplied with the console. Seems fine to me.

What sort of connection does it have then?

He's talking about Xbox component leads, not Xbox 360. The component lead with the 360 is perfectly fine though, you're right about that.

Ah, in that case I always buy Belden component leads as they are **** hot quality. Van Damme are pretty good too.

Might be a bit overkill on an XBox though.
