Can the 360 remote be used whilst you're playing a game.

The reason I ask is that I would by one if I could say do the following:

Whilst playing a game I could change the music track being played without having to press the blade button and scroll down to the track selector area and change the track.

It'd be nice just to press a button, even on a seperate remote just to skip a track or two.

Suppose I will just have create playlists with the tracks I want to save having to skip if the remote can't do this.

Any help appreciated.

I don't have one but doesn't the remote just act like a joypad with different button layout? I would imagine when you fire up a game, using the remote would simply control your on screen/character/car/menus rather than seperately control the muisc playlists.

It doesn't act like a joypad, you can also skip songs with the skip buttons without going through the blade.
You can also use Media Center 2005 remotes. The HP ones go a few quid on eBay (http://www.tkqlhce.com/click-582776-5826355).

does the remote work via wi-fi or infrared.

my 360 is behind the tv and there is no line of sight so infra red would not be usuable.

Infrared, the sensor on the 360 is to the left of the memory card slots.

yeah they do. there is an option in the dashboard to enable media center remotes. The HP remote is really good too, I have one.

Yep, pretty sure it does. however it doesn't have a 360 "guide" button. For the sake of £2, it's well worth it.

I'm tempted, there's someone selling them for £4 delivered on ebay. Can this or the official one turn the console on and off?
