I was going to post this last week asking if anyone on the forums played this game but never got round to it. I love the game and if anyone fancied a friendly sometime to post here and let me know what team you played under.

The numbers are growing and we should have a steady number of teams to organise some friendlies at the least for next week. Friendlies are played every Sunday. My team is based in Australia and anyone who plays me play at 12:30 (midnight) Sunday am. England based teams play at 10:30am Sunday. I'll also list where the teams are based if not in the UK as I expect to be in a minority - there are however plenty of players from all corners of the globe so you never know! :thumbs:

I'd section your team off, see who the bowlers are, batsmen etc etc once you've done that choose the best players and good luck !!! the rating gives you an idea but not always ! list your team name and I'll list the teams on the first post later !

Stucon, added you to the list. I would certainly take a look at the transfer table and try buy a 17 year old to train. Your squad looks quite old, amazed there are no 17 year olds.

The top team has a fairly good and small squad. Don't have too many in your squad or you'll just be paying out money for nothing. I couldn't see any robot teams so you'll have a tough life for the first season but good luck.

I've seen a lot worse mate !!! For now you have two options, join the friendlies board and request a friendly (next friendly is tomorrow so be quick !). Most people have friendlies arranged by now so get in there quickly ! You can also do a search for a team and see if they would like to play etc.

Hi Alan,

I would send them an email and see if you can change things. They will spot the obvious error ! To play on a sunday you have to arrange friendlies. Once we've got a few more lsited we can think about how we play the friendlymatches (inter forum).

Hi mate,

basically every 90 seconds every game (i.e. in England) progresses by a certain number of balls. It updates automatically and you read the commentary. You can of course refresh all the time and you seeball by ball that way. You have no part in the game once the orders have been entered and the match has begun.

That's correct mate. New teams are not in the cup (I got knocked out too!) and if you are in the cup you don't play a friendly. All you have to do is arrange a friendly for next Sunday! You will play your league match on Friday.

Looks like I've set a decent target of 336 for you to chase. Took a couple of your batsman out early, although your middle order is holding steady. I think you'll need to up your run rate to win though.

A 26year old aussie bowler and a 25year old south african batsman hopefully they will add some much needed skill to my team.

Gives me a total of 4 new players, i've put 3 players on the transfer list to reduce squad size

you can pick which ever region you want. They play the matches at different times i.e. England play at 10:30am throughout the day, Australia at 0030 midnight etc etc

We have 13 so far, I had already included Newcastle XI in the team list. Any ideas on the best way forward with this ? Should we just play friendlies against each other and not worry for now and once we have say 20 we either have one division or divide into two divisions ?

Alan, just checked your squad out and I reckon you should sack/sell 10 players. You've got far too many and will cost a fortune to keep plus you wouldn't be able to train that many !!!

Yes mate, that's fine (do you get money for home friendlies btw)

Also, any chance you could explain how training works in a couple of sentences? I can't see anything on the forums that explains it.

Training ......

We recognise that you as the team owner are more au fait with the tactical and business side of the game, so we have given you the opportunity to hire specialist coaches to help you to improve your player’s skills. There are five different types of specialist coaches that you can hire: bowling, batting, fielding, wicket keeping and fitness coaches. All of these coaches can be hired from within the club info page. (You can read more about them individually in the Backroom Staff section)

Once you have hired at least one specialist coach, you can start to allocate a player to each of these coaches for the week within the nets area. Each coach will add one more available coaching session.

There are some limitations though. Due to the limited time and space available, you can only have 10 coaching sessions each week. If you have more specialist coaches than that, then you are simply paying them to sit around each week. Even if you do allocate a player to them, he will never get the chance to train as the net space will never be available.

Secondly, although each player can be allocated to more than one specialist coach, the effectiveness of the sessions will reduce with every duplication.

For example, if you allocate Botham to two batting sessions, he will get the full benefit from the first session, but due to the amount of work he has already done in that session, the amount he can possibly gain from the second session is much less. If he was allocated to a third batting session, he would receive again even less training. A fourth training session would only provide negligible benefit

However, if Botham was told to also go to a bowling session as well as the batting ones, he would still get the full benefit from the first bowling session. Again, any subsequent sessions would also see a reduction in training received.

You basically need to hire specialist coaches (up to 10 of them). It is best to train the younger ones and if you have 17 year olds even better. No point training the old guys !

It's not too bad a team to be honest, the only problem I see is your youth. They aren't good enough. You should start investing in youth by saving up ITS points - I think each point costs £2000 a week. I am currently working on getting a 17 year old all rounder and I have 20 points saved for him. This has cost me £40,000 over the last 2 weeks and I plan to stop at 40 points, i.e. 2 more weeks and £80,000 in total !!

I haven't had the time today to do anything, going to take a look at my squad later and while shift some and hire some coaches to get the players fitness levels up.

i've added some better players to my batting line up, i'm now looking to add a decent bowler and also putting some cash in the youth system :)

Welcome to the "I don't know what I am doing club" :D

I think I am getting the hang of this now, you need to keep an eye on your players form and fitness and either fire of sell players who are not up to the job, and that is just for starters. Oh and you play the odd game or two.

We now have 15 teams, 5 short of an even 20 or 1 short of 16 !!! If after we get another team to make 16 more join, we can create a third league but they will not be able to finish home and away legs at the same time as us !!

We will have to call one Div 1 and 2 or premier and Div 1 (my pref) and it's just the luck of the draw as to who will be in which division. I will have a think about calculations but we may as well follow the same points structure:-

Win - 4 points
Draw/Tie - 2 Points

Points level in division will go to run rate and then if the same, results against the team you are level with ! hope that makes sense ? Any comments of thoughts guys ?

Once you have arranged a friendly (the sunday game) please post the details in Bold so i can easily see it ! Should be very interesting and add a little spice to a friendly that usually means nothing!!!

I mailed them via the form on the webpage and they did it for me, they never replied to the mail though. It is probably best if one of the teams changed their name to avoid any confusion down the line.

Warnie - You suggestion about two leagues sounds fine, we have another team now so that makes 16 so we could have two leagues of 8. I take it you are going to keep up to date with the tables etc...

My 'friendly' on Sunday is against Arnold CCC (forum member stucon) at their ground.

Sounds good to me, i'm pretty sure someone said they had a friendly this week with a non forum team so we might have to wait till next week?

Bottom 2 from each division are relegated with the acception of the lowest division.The top two teams from Division 1 are promoted. If this hits off we can look at having play offs next season?

I have split the list in two and basically first come first served is how I chose the divisions, the only fair way. For this first season I thought that I would leave it up to you to choose who you play as we have joined the battrick season 3 games in, from next season we will have a better structure and a home and away system in play.

Can I ask that you play each other once at the moment. I know this is slightly confusing but if we still have the interest in season 2 then we can work closer at some better instructions!

Please let me know if you have arranged a friendly outside your division for the weekend. I think it's best we start this weekend as we may run out of weeks to get 8 games in ! Is this ok with everyone ?

Just checked mate and you have no friendlies arranged for this Sunday so go for it !

I have also realised a mistake ! Because of the confusion with two team names Mostly Harmless I missed one out ! So we have 9 teams in Division 1 but this won't be a problem as we are only play each other once this season. Apologies for any confusion.

Can I please ask though that one of you changes the team name ?!!!

He will gain experience by playing and also in the nets (don't overtrain/play him though) - keep an eye out for this fitness. he is listed as lively at the moment. Good rating though for a new player.

I think we might need to deal with the situation of somebody not being able to arrange a friendly because the team owner of the other team that you are due to play isn't around. It might seem harsh but if we are going to do this league then in instances like this shouldn't Warney be awarded the victory by default ?

I think something has to be agreed on especially as we have a few leagues now. I think (as long as a fair amount of effort has been put in by one team) that the team not signing up for the friendly must be deemed a no show and will suffer a loss. They will not received a run rate which also reduces the overall season run rate. The "winning team" receives their average run rate before that match +1 for effort.

Any thoughts on this?

Well after a very dodgy start my youngsters came through overnight in the real league match and won by 245 runs! We scored 306 runs for 6 wickets and bowled them out for 61 !!!

5 wickets fell on 50 for them !!!! My opening bowlers did the damage taking the 10 wickets between them including 4/4 in 2.5 overs from Procter !!

problem is that if they have strong batsmen and your bowlers aren't that hot you'll get stuffed ! Don't forget though that your batsmen will also struggle on a green pitch !

I didn't want to say that Stu ! I've had an extra season but am always happy to help anyone improve their teams - offer applies to anyone. It is amazing how quickly you can build your team up in a season with proper training etc. Oh and buying a couple of good youngsters.

I like the reporters summery, everything as got either a woeful or an abysmal against it despite the fact the one of my bowlers took 5 wickets for hardly any runs and the other took 4, and one batsman hit 84. These reporters must be hard to please :D

How is everyone doing his morning ?

Played mine overnight and it was a good match. Twyoungsters came through and Melton looks like going from strength to strength after a poor start to the season with his second century in two games.

we won by 159 runs beating arrowst in the process. His tail enders did really well and my bowlers struggled to finish them off.

We scored 5 for 313 at 6.26, arrowst scoring 154 all out at 4.23 per over. So 4 points for Bowral kicks off the premiership ! Good luck guys.

i'm paying the price for dropping some of my bowlers, the opening bowlers did fine getting the first 10 overs out of the way for just 32 runs.

the next 2 aren't doing quite as well but they have taken the 1st wicket.

17 overs 83 for 1 - last 7 overs have gone for 51 runs !

That is some run rate, all most Surrey like. You could be heading towards 300 plus if you can maintain a good rate.

I would say you are on target for a score around 300 as they say usually at the 25 over stage you can double your score and add a bit more. The key will be if you can keep wickets in hand for the final push towards the end of the innings.

My run rate has dropped to just 3.93 as my batsman are struggling to get the singles. 110-4 after 29 overs.
