I am thinking of buying the Eltax Linear Response together with the Marantz 5200, and I would love to hear your opinions.

Is this speaker set suitable for music & cinema etc?

The amp is described as DTS & DD 6.1 compatible - what does this mean? - does it decode DTS ES & DD EX or do I need some more hardware in the future.

Many thanks for any input

It means the amp is 6.1 ready, just add the appropiate source material via your DVD or LD player. I wouldn`t think the eltax is a good choice for any marantz receiver, its more suited to Kenwood / sony (brighter sounding amps).

Thanks for the prompt reply - could you expand on this? What speaker system would be best suited (budget £300)

5200 has the 6 channels of amplification to do 6.1 - it will decode DTS-ES and DD-EX (ES being discrete 6.1 channels as opposed to matrixed in with the rears) - got one for Chrimbo and J.Park III in DTS-ES kicks A**!! Also has 7 channel input for future proofing. For this sort of dosh I don't know you can better it!!! Be careful of some others that can decode but do not have the 6th amplified channel - Yammy RXV800 for example - you would need a mono power amp to get 6.1
