Might have something to do with the comment on ukresistance.co.uk about how Sony seem to have 'faked' the originaly released picture :)

Well worth reading the history of revisions..

To be fair, the entire entry and the previous revisions are completely taking the ****. Guff it may be, but at least its funny guff, and that kind of guff is good guff in my book.

Yes, I know it is, but many people regard Wikipedia entries as gospel, and if it's that easy to get an entry like this into it how does that affect the validity of other, more genuine looking entries.

interview with Lair developer F5 is on ign, very in-depth

http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/733/733921p1.html

First of all, we are not only rendering some part of Lair in 1080p. The whole game is in 1080p native, from front-end to all in-game bits.

We absolutely love 1080p because of the detail that you can see. When we went up from 720 to 1080 I was blown away how much more of the artwork was visible. We started out being true 720p proponents, but since switching over to true 1080p via HDMI a few months ago I can't go back

I like this comment:

Eggebrecht: The single level at TGS alone takes up 4 Gigabytes of data. We are using every ounce of that due to streaming of our textures. Sure you could chop them all down to tiny sizes and we would fit, but then again, it would not be the same game. In addition to all the textures and geometry, we also do have video on the disc, and all of that is in native 1080p resolution. Thanks to Blu-Ray we don't need to worry about that and can still fit the whole game on a single disk.

So thats a 6 level game is it :)

Not necessarily - they could and propbably do re-use textures.

It does put the 360's reliance on dual layer DVD in perspective - how long till multi disk games? :suspect:

This is what happens when you go high definition, most people still dont know it increases the file size on everything be it movies or games.

This just goes to show the 360 is not plug and play for tommorows future.

Apart from the plug in and play HD drive of course.....

All developers producing titles exclusively for the PS3 are banging on about how great Blu-ray is, and yet we've already seen massive, fully-voiced RPG titles like Oblivion and Enchanted Arms released on the 360, with all the high definition gubbins and on a single DVD-9. Oblivion is apparently something like 5GB on the disc.

All that extra storage space is simply going to lead to lazy coding and developers cramming in as much FMV as possible to justify it.

What the hell are they doing lashing on 1080p videos anyway? Is that for the 1% of PS3 owners who can view them?

Yep - I mentioned in the first post :)

Just had a look at the videos of this game on youtube (search for ps3 lair TGS TWO) and think it just looks like a more adult Spyro :)

It seems to suffer from one of the main problems for these sort of games though - when you are being attacked from behind you can't tell who's shooting at you (and from which direction). The ever popular case of you suddenly losing all your strength with no way of avoiding it, justa flash on the screen every once in a while.

Also - the graphics seem to have an issue when you go through the rings with them suddenly disappearing (more prevelant in the first video by the same guy)

not sure about that! FMV costs substantially more to create than anything else and most cut-scenes now use the ingame engine so there is no additional space issue. Lazy coding doesn't increase storage space that much btw - for most titles, the actual code is tiny compared to the content assets, sfx, audio etc.. etc..
