I was just going to post and mention this. Features:

* Unique inverted keyboard gameplay style
* Support for guitar controllers and generic joysticks
* Includes a song editor for making your own tunes
* Submit your scores to the World Charts
* Hundreds of songs composed by the community
* Supports importing Guitar Hero™ I and Guitar Hero™ II songs
* Multiplatform; runs on Windows™, Linux®, Mac OS X™ and FreeBSD®
* Open source, full Python source code available

Anyone playing this? How well does the guitar controller supporter work? I'm downloading it now to play with over the weekend.

I've been playing this the past few days to get my GH fix while I have no console, using a keyboard takes a bit of getting used to but I have ordered a guitar controller so I can play properly. I love this game because you can play pretty much any song you want.

Obviously it does not look as nice as GH but it is free!

Frets On Fire is brilliant!

"Bang Bang Mystery Man" is my favourite song out of the default 3. That guitar outro is super :notworthy

It only has 3 songs available but they are surprisingly pleasant for a free-ware game. The songs, as with the game are made by a Finnish guy in the credits.

Guitar Hero vets may recognise it as a free-ware clone of their beloved game, but instead of a guitar peripheral you hold your keyboard and use the F keys. However, you can use the Xplorer GH2 guitar plugged in (I hear).

Because it's on PC, you have the advantage of downloading additional tools and button mapping your favourite .MP3s.

Just being controversial here, but with the right PC and equipment you could have much superior sound quality and the ability to rock out much more flexibly.

Not that I like rock music, anything with a guitar is usually enough to put me off.

As I understand it you can use any midi controller to control this, so the world is your oysters with this.............

Bonus points for the most imaginative midi controller to play "rock music"

Personally, I'm waiting for the techno version.
