Nicked from the BBC website
England international Owen Hargreaves could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a suspected broken leg.
Hargreaves, 25, came off after 24 minutes of Bayern Munich's 2-1 league defeat to Arminia Bielefeld after colliding with an opposing player.
"We think he may have a broken fibula. We will know more after an examination," said coach Felix Magath.
The midfielder, a transfer target of Manchester United, cemented his place in the England team at the World Cup
Awful luck for the guy, just as he was becoming a regular for England. Opens up an opportunity for Carrick in the holding role.

Hope he not out too long, he literally holding England team together! ;)
Now maybe we can put Gerrad & Lampard together in the centre and watch it flourish. :suspect:
Carrick in the holding roll :gag:
Has to be LEdley King or Scott Parker.
I'd much rather have Carrick - a midfielder - playing in midfield than Ledley King - a centre-back. King's back from injury and looking good but he's there to compete with Rio, Terry, etc. I really hope he doesn't get played out of position for the umpteenth time.
But yes, Scott Parker would be an alternative as well.
Poor ol' Hargreaves - hope he comes back soon.

Scott Parker SURELY is ther obvious choice - I've fallen back in love with the boy despite him walking out on us (Charlton), he is 100% exactly the kind of player to replace Hargreaves - and he scores goals!
Seriously, this kid needs a chance - he's the best player in the country to be out of the squad IMHO.
EDIT - I think the reason why Hargreaves was 'hated' was because he was always played out of position up until the world cup and didn't shine - I was one of his critics before then. Play him in position and he's brilliant.
Exactly, it's like playing Lampard as left back.
Carrick's not really a holding/defensive midfielder though is he?
Parker must deserve the opportunity at least.

I'd love to see Parker given his chance now. Perhaps this is the lucky break(no pun intended) he needs. Players that aren't always 1st choice have often made their mark when the 1st choice guy is injured.
As a Newcastle fan, I might be a bit biased, but Parker is probably our best player(tough call between him and Duff) and I feel he deserves a chance at England level.
Hopefully McLaren has realised that a playing a holding midfielder suits most of the rest of the team. I do wonder if Scott Parker hadn't been injured whether he might of made the world cup squad, hopefully he will get a chance now.
