Star Wars fans have been reeling at rumors that the members of *NSYNC will make an appearance in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack Of The Clones, so LAUNCH sought to separate fact from fiction. A call to Lucasfilm spokesperson Lynne Hale confirmed the following: Yes, the members of the aging boy band were shot in the background of a scene in Episode II, but no, it wasn't at the behest of George Lucas's daughter, allegedly a big *NSYNC (news - web sites) fan. Hale laughed at the latter detail, a story that has been widely reported as fact.

Truth is, Lucas himself had little or nothing to do with the already controversial cameo, explained Hale. She says it was producer Rick McCallum who invited the *NSYNC gang to the set after they explained what big Star Wars fans they are. Their contribution to the Star Wars universe--and the resulting uproar over it--might all be for naught, however, since Hale explained that the *NSYNC scene might be edited out the final version of the film. If Star Wars fan reaction is any indication, Lucas better get cutting.

He really knows how to turn a classic trilogy into a cash-in kiddy collection. :brickwall

I don't really see the problem - they are in the background as extras - i bet you won't even be able to spot them without a magnifying glass.

Didn't we discuss this one a few days ago? I have no problem with them being in the movie as long as it's done in context, i.e. I wouldn't expect them to pop up playing one of their 90's tracks in EP2. Why worry, it's only another rumor.

I read that:
You see a small group of jedi (i.e nsync) get blow up in the background to a large battle. I got the impression that you would have to be looking very hard indeed to know its them. But as they're all going to be slaughtered that makes it OK by me ;) :clap:

Of course this is all just rumor.

yeh i think we should all just chill about it...

it aint like they'll be in the background then jump to the front shrieking "DIRTY POP!" I bet they'll only be in it for a couple of seconds and they won't even speak...I don't think it'll ruin the film

Well, as most people thought Episode one was a kiddies film maybe he is aiming for the "older" market with Ep. II :D
