View Full Version : The Road Home - not biased - but fantastic film!!
I actually bought the R2 of this a few months ago solely because a certain gorgeous oriental babe is in it and only just managed to get round to watching it.
Have to say it's superb and very touching. A very honest film simply telling a straighforward story very well.
Lots of screen time to ZZY too.:D
Yes, I also bought this a month ago from Play for the nice price of £9.99, good film told beautifully.
and ZZ's in it :)

Great film.
See that guy on the cover? It takes a special kind of guy to sport a haircut like that. :)

:p
This film is on my list of DVDs to get but when I checked the R1/R2 versions out they were both pretty poor in terms of extras, although the R2 comes off worse than the R1
On the plus side though, the R2 is cheap.
Are there any plans for a special edition?

No but if you saw the transfer you wouldnt care about the lack of extras.
The DD5.1 sound is also very well done. Lots of ambient noises and the music is terrific too.

Everything about this film - including that haircut - is breath-taking. Like you said, Ono, the music is beautiful (reminded me of Titanic for some reason), as is the scenery. The story is beautiful and Zhang Ziyi, as always, is about as beautiful as they get.
Extremely moving in places, The Road Home had me on the verge of tears. (Especially towards the end, when they're having dinner at the small table. I was all choked up). The only other film that had such an impact on me is Grave of the Fireflies.
Gromit - don't hang around for the Special Edition, mate. Get the R2 (cheap) and don't dilly-dally on the way!
OK, you guys got me convinced - ordered me a copy from Play. Now if only someone would release a decent version of Raise the Red Lantern...
I was still thinking about how good this film is at work today!!:p
Goodness me, I'm mad.

WOW!!
Recommendation indeed!!
I will say that I thought Zhang Ziyi gives a believable and well portrayed perfomance.
It's a shame that she may now be type-cast as merely an oriental bird that is good at Kung Fu by Hollywood:( .
She has much more to offer the cinema world than that surely?
