I have recently bought some Mission M73's and they sound great. Within the last day or so the right hand speaker has started to make a sort of fuzzing, buzzing sound and I am not sure if it's the speaker or amp. It is intermittent and when I can be bothered I will swap the speakers over to see if the fault moves with it. I would like to know if anyone has any ideas what could be causing it. The speakers are bi-wired. I have not yet (for some strange reason) removed the plates from the back which connects the lf and hf together. Thanks in advance MikeK

I'd be interested to know if you think biwiring the speakers - the way you have them now - has made them sound any better than single wiring. :p

Baps! It won't have made any difference until I remove the bloody link connectors!!!

I know that

Maybe that's what the problem is..

Could be a short on the speaker cable, loose binding post (speaker or amp), dodgy driver, a mouse could of clambered into the bass port...

Could be anything mate, check the connections. But remove those plates, FGS. :p

I removed the plates from the posts and swapped the speakers over. They sound better now and the buzzing has gone. Cheers Baps for confirming my suspicions :)

I'm thinking of getting some M73s or possibly M74s. What do you think of them? And what amp have you got driving them?

Thanks.

Joe

I've got a Yamaha RXV-620RDS driving M74's, M7C1 and M7DS rears, together with a Paradigm PDR-10 sub. IMO the sound quality from the M74's is superb. OK, the finish is a beech-effect laminate, but it looks good. Extremely good value for money. The bass goes down really low - not stomach churning - but rock solid.

Sounds good. I've just bought a Denon AVR1602 and my old Wharfies really can't be doing it justice. I live in a flat with people below so can't really get a sub - good base from my main speakers is quite important.

Your setup is the same one I was thinking of going for. Have you also been impressed with the rears? Can you tell any difference from using bipolars?

Now to convince the girlfriend...

Just thought I would mention I am selling an almost new pair of M74's in the classifieds. As you are in London we could easily meet for a deal. Let me know :)

Can I tell the difference between dipole and conventional rears? Errrm, dunno, I haven't got conventionals to try :). They certainly sound very impressive and they look good too - well, you've got a girlfriend - these things are important!
