I record various TV programs using a freeview box attached to my computer to store programs onto hard disc. I have a Alba DVD55 player attached to the normal TV and burnt a MPEG onto a DVD+R disc using Roxio which I then played in the Alba with no problem. I then added another program to the DVD disc and when the revised disc went into the Alba the second program was not shown.

I recorded to short programs and this time used a CD-R and burnt one program to disc, into the Alba no problem. I then burnt the second program to same CD-R and into the Alba and both programs showed and played.

I then purchased a DVD-R and tried the process again as per the CD-R and again only one program showed when there are two.

If I burn both programs together then both show and play on DVD discs.

Why is it that the CD-R works perfectly and the DVD-R and DVD+R does not. I have also tried DVD+RW with same effect.

Obviously, your DVD Player does not support multi-session DVDs - the reason it isn't playing the second program when you burn it separately is that your player is reading the TOC from the first write. It therefore assumes there is only one title on the disc and can't 'see' anything from the second write. Strange that it runs multi-session CDs but them's the breaks!

The only thing you can do is collect enough programmes and burn a full DVD in one write - it's the best way to burn anyway.
