I'm choosing a Home Cinema System for the first time (I'm based in the UK). I had it narrowed down to three systems, the Pioneer NS-DV55, the Sony DAV-S300 (or S500) or the Panasonic SC-PM08. Can anyone give me some advice or feedback on which of these would be the best to play both DVDs and CDs?
Thanks!!

DavS500 is the best bet
The DV55 suffers from DTS faults and the PM08 dosn`t like CDR

NSDV55 is the better system, but was dropped in August (replaced by the NSDV77/88). The Sony is on par with the 77/88,
However, avoid all the above, buy either the Pioneer DCS100, or get yourself a "proper" seperates system, which you could do for a budget of £600 no problem.

Since when and what fault! Over 60 Forum members bought NSDV55 system offers on offer last summer, and not ones given any feedback of a "DTS" fault on this system....

I'll vouch for the pioneer DCS100 that Justin mentions above, it's not the loudest system in the world but it's plenty loud enough for the average living room and it's very discreet (even the wife approves :) ) Oh yeah, and the sound quality is excellent.

Another vote for the Pioneer DCS100 - excellent picture, stonking sound quality which is loud enough for the average living room or to annoy my neighbours ;) , copes with all sorts of disks and formats (VCD, CDR etc which I believe the Sony doesn't), looks "a seriously sexy piece of kit" (quote from a friend) and is good value.
Recommended.
I've just bough the Pioneer NS-DV77 after 2 months of internet "research" and attending various live demos...
Best audio performance, active sub- woofer and MP3 playback - What a pleasure
It's not perfect (no system is) but most certainly the best value for money if you're going for an "all-in-one" system!

I you read you technical bullitins from Pioneer UK you would know about the DTS fault on the DV55 and know how to cure it.
I take it you have got a Pioneer Technical Registration

I just love dealers that come on here, hide their identity and then pass themselves off as "ordinary" people.
