View Full Version : Quick question about X360 sound outputs...
Toying with the idea of buying an X360 for xmas and won't even think about plugging it into my main telly, but will instead use it next to my PC and use the monitor.
Just wondering about sound outputs on the x360...i'd obviously have to buy a speaker package as i dont have one at the moment, but is this easy to do? Can I just buy a 5.1 setup and plug it in and play?

Yup, both the Component and VGA connectors have OPTICAL digital outputs, and stereo output cables (the output slot is integrated into the connector socket which goes in the back of the 360 as opposed to a separate brick with the Xbox v1).
You can have both sets of outputs running at the same time (as I do with the stereo connectors going into my PC monitor and the digital connector going into my amp).
HTH. :)
Cheers for that. Was a little confused by the big X360 thread.

You'd need to make sure it has an optical input though - a lot of the speaker systems out there use three stereo jacks and no game system outputs that.
Optical input =
Yeah, I'm just gonna be looking at the cheapest PC 5.1 speaker package. Seen one from Dell that looks like it'll do the job and it has the optical input.
