Porting Number from Orange & keeping contract

I started an orange contract through CPW about 5 months ago which was
10 months at 99p and 2 months £25. Cashback at 4th 8th and 12 bill. I
ported my Gold PAYG number onto the Orange contract a week after it
started, 5 months later im finding i pay too much for texts so i want
to get an O2 PAYG sim with 300 txts per month and port my Orange number
over to it and keep the contract going at £5 ish month. Orange are
telling me that i cant port the number untill the end of contract. They
say my only option is to pay out contract upfront costing alot.

Is there a way to get my number ported out and keep my contract
running?
Read something about a second line, any ideas?

Orange do do second line option which gets you a new number, but that would require another tarriff on that line. So you would need to pick the cheapest tarriff.

I don't know if they would do it, but why not see if they will change your current tarriff to line two with a new number and keep your gold number on line 1 with a new high bundle text allowance?
