Transferring numbers on the same network?

Currently got two contracts on Vodafone, does anyone know if it's possible to swap a phone number from one contract to the other? I know they claim they won't do it using the general PAC system but is it actually possible? And has anyone ever had any luck in pestering a network into doing it?

Don't know if it makes any difference but the contract I want to swap the number from is outside the initial 12 month tie-in and the one I want to swap it too is still within the initial contract period.

I think technically it is possible.

They don't like to let people do this as it encourages customers to take up attractive New Customer Contract deals instead of their inferior contract upgrades.

They'll give you a PAC Code to take to another network but they know most people are Network loyal even if they are not loyal to their service provider.
