I'm after one too after getting a new HD TV yesterday. I want one right *now* so I'm going try and pick one up in Birmingham today if at all possible.

The official kit is listed here (http://www.divineo.co.uk/cgi-bin/div-uk/xb-of-hidef) but doesn't appear to be in stock at the moment.

For anyone who already has one and is running XBMC, does it make much of a difference?

Not unless you like a nice hi-res GUI and watching upscaled dvds/xvid etc

That is where I have been looking but I'm suffering from shiny new toy syndrome and I wanted to pick a lead up today if possible. Doesn't look like it's going to happen though.

Thi is the only thing I can find on ebay, but I just get the feeling the quality is not going to be there. Would much prefer an original MS one but they are gold dust

You'll find more on the US site. The problem with the one you mention is that you still need an additional component cable to go from the block to the TV. I don't know if they can be picked up fairly cheaply as I'm still new to all this HD stuff.

couldn't find any on the us site either :?: I always assumed the MS one was an actual cable with an optical port on it. However this pic on play asia seems to show it as very similar to the item on ebay.. Anyone with an original MS one confirm what it looks like or even post a pic? TIA

You don't need an additional component lead with the official kit, but they can be like gold dust at times.

You'd be better off with the one pictured than with some of the others though. As I keep posting, an awful lot of the 3rd party Xbox component leads around do not have an optical out socket, so stereo sound is your only option.

If you want a cheap component lead then take a look at this thread (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=365186&highlight=belkin) in the Bargain Forum.

The official one is the box shown on the PlayAsia site, also came with component and an optical lead.
Had to go digging behind the TV to remind myself, but it's definitely right.
Got mine for about £20 on Ebay, got another later for about £28, both over a year ago I think. Have been on the lookout for another for someone, but like dannywonderful says they are getting like gold-dust.

Why do you need this Hi Def Kit kit?, you can just use standard Component cables, i do!

I've got standard component cables for mine, picture quality is great, only problem is when in 720p 60Hz mode, if the light in the kitchen downstairs is turned on or off, the picture cuts out for a fraction of a second. Is this likely to be the component cable or some other problem?

because it allows the audio connection via an optical cable...

Ah, so there's no difference in picture quality then? Saying that i think im going to have change my componet cables, as i have notice that with the cables i have, if the picture is solid black you can notice lines going down the screen!

that would depend on the quality of the cable to be honest. but the optical audio will allow surround sound instead of stereo.

if anyone spots any anywhere - post a link :)

already posted a link to that item earlier in the thread. If its that cheap I have suspicions on level of quality. Keeping an eye on it though just in case - could be a last gasp effort if can't find an official one anywhere...

The boxes with a switch in them are no good.
You get terrible ghosting on any picture above 480p when using them.

Better off using the cables without the optical output and modding the xbox internally for optical or coax output, at least you know that will work.

I bought one of those, but I can't get it to work with my PJ (Hitachi TX100) :(

So I'm still using composite, and on a 2m+ screen it does look a bit poor...

managed to find one on ebay (uk) which wasn't too OTT in price so snapped it up.

I'm probably going to sell mine as I haven't played on my xbox since I got the 360 - it's the official MS kit, hardly used. I just need to switch the XBOX back to PAL standard def before I sell it! If there's anyone interested I'll set up a thread in the classified forum.

No, I got a third party one but it seems to be of real quality and makes a tremendous difference to the Xbox picture.

My official lead will be here in a couple of days, out of interest what settings do yopu need to change to get it working? Or is iit as simple as just swapping the leads over?

Is it now best to start getting HD divx files? Or will i not see much of an improvement?
