I was thinking about getting Licence to Kill tomorrow.
Can anyone confirm the r2 release is uncut?.
I know the film was cut originally and I've checked a couple of sites which list different running times. Whats the r2 version like?.

It's cut, but the R1 is even worse.
I think the only uncut version is the German (R2) one. If not, then it's the French R2. If that's no good, order a Jap one just in case (okay, maybe not).
Basically, I'm not really sure which country has the uncut disc, but (as ever) someone here will know.....
But..... Doesn't the BBFC website note that all previous cuts have now been waived?

It's MGM that released the wrong prints. I'm sure at least one more of the SE releases is the wrong print as well. Can someone confirm which ones they are?
If my memory serves me correctly, OHMSS was the other film that MGM pressed the wrong/cut print for.

How so? I know there's some lip sinc problems in a couple of scenes at the end, but I thought it was uncut?

I can't say whether it's completely uncut but the R2 special edition is definitely longer than any version previously available in the UK. The scene near the start where Sanchez whips his cheating girlfriend was never in there before.

As far as I know the R1 version is the only uncut version
Yes Ragnar is right, OHMSS was the other wrong cut that was pressed. I am anoyed by these cuts and they should release disc uncut always.:brickwall

If the search function was available then we could sort this out easily enough. There was a thread about 3 or 4 months ago concerning Bond cuts and it went into lurid detail about the different versions available.
It became clear that Licence to Kill was only uncut in some non-U.K European form though and I remember (and also read elsewhere) that the R1 was some kind of derisory TV version. It's possible that they rectified this for later pressings, but I've never read confirmation of that.

All versions of LTK are cut, only around 30 seconds, the scene where someone's head explodes in a pressure chamber. The gore is cut out, I think.
MGM used the wrong master for all regions, I think.

Don't ITV show the film uncut nowdays?
Their print appears to show more than any video/dvd i've seen

Okay, to summarise the many threads on this (unless I've missed one)...
All DVDs of Licence to Kill are cut as far as I know (including european versions, though I've not confirmed this myself other than the French version which looks cut to me). MGM are aware of the cock-up they made by releasing the cut version when it should have been uncut (even after doing it in R1 and not correcting the mistake in R2, despite BBFC waiving the cuts! :(). They were going to re-issue it along with OHMSS but that's been put on hold.
All DVDs of OHMSS are cut (same reasons as Licence to Kill) - or rather there are scenes 'missing' (it's not cut for cencorship reasons, just the print they used had bits missing). See here (http://www.dvdfile.com/software/cut_list/index_2.html) for more on this.
Goldeneye is cut in UK R2 but uncut in R4, R2 Europe and R1
Tomorrow Never Dies is cut in UK R2 & R4, but uncut in R2 Europe and R1.
Some (if not all) european versions of Goldneye & Tomorrow Never Dies are uncut (I can confirm the French versions are definitely uncut).
There are cuts to the earlier films too that were made on cinema release but I think they're lost forever.
Oh, and MGM have deleted the whole lot in the UK (except maybe the new boxed set), so there goes your chance to match up the spines ;) (well you'll probably find old stock for a while in some places). European versions have(had) matching spines with the UK by the way, whereas R1 and R4 do not.
While not being a great Bond fan, i found this info regarding Licence to Kill from March 2000 edition of Video Watchdog magazine:
"When John Glen's Licence to Kill was submitted to the MPAA (American Censors) it contained scenes of graphic violence that were too strong to be awarded the PG 13 Rating.
The film was subsequently shon of approx 10 seconds of footage.
The only available video release to contain this footage is the Brazilian tape titled Permisso Para Matar.
The following scenes were trimmed:
1. After Felix Leiter is bitten by Sanchez's great white shark, there is an additional underwater shot showing Leiters left leg bitten off at the thigh.
2. When Milton Krest is killed in the decompression chamber, the shot of his swelling head continues for a little longer followed by a violent splat of blood on the window.
3. As Dario holds onto Bond's dangling legs above the spinning rotary blades at the refinery, there is an additional shot below the blades as he loses his grip and a few clots of human pulp splash the camera lens followed by a brief shot of Darios screaming face as he is chewed up.
4. An additional shot of Sanchez set ablaze by Bonds lighter , flailing about and falling foreward before the tanker explodes.
I dont know if this version is available on dvd anywhere, maybe Brazil or Japan?
