Have just reviewed this film for DVD Times (Check out the link in my sig) and found the film to be extremely exciting on a visual and action scale despite the terrible dialogue. Anyone agree/disagree?

The film itself has so many negative points, yet it manages to appeal! Consequently propelling itself into cult status!
IMHO a class film that i remember from my chilhood....
the dvd package on the other hand...

This is a great film.
Everything about it is so ridiculous and cheesy yet it never becomes unwatchable.
Hopefully more people will seek out this little classic since D12 did their tribute to it in their last music video.

You didn`t mention the R2 release is presented in the wrong ratio!!

The correct ratio is 1.85:1 as featured in the R1 release.

Ratios tend to be a bit misleading when you compare 1.77:1 and 1.85:1, and I've noticed that the region 1's label theirs 1.85:1 and the region 2 1.77:1.

To be honest, the difference is so negligible as to be totally insignificant - not least because most cinemas will shave at least that amount off the top and bottom depending on how accurately their masking has been set up!

In any case, I'm willing to bet that the film was shot in open-matte 4:3, so you're probably getting a tiny sliver of extra information in the R2 version, assuming the stated aspect ratios are accurate.

Love this film. Especially the clowns. :D

Ah, movies from the 70s.. simply my favourite decade!

You can pick up "The Warriors" for a measly £9.99 in your local Virgin Megastore to boot (part of the 3 for £27 offer too along with most of the Paramount back catalogue!).

it is a disgrace that the prologue that features on the bbc print is missing on the region 1&2 releases...

That prologue wasn't shown in the cinema either. It's not the first time that the BBC has shown an "alternative" version of a film, presumably without realising it. (They've shown a print of <i>Carrie</i> in which the actresses are wearing underwear in the changing-room scene.)

The Warriors is one of my all time favourites. Must have watched this 100's of times. Yes it has cheesy dialogue but who cares.
I'd love to see a special Edition of this sometime.
Good soundtrack too.

Is the region 2 version cut?

I think most of those who listen to the sort of crap music D12 do, would be far too young to even know the "fight music" video was based on the Warriors (a top class film).

If memory serves the prologue occured on the beach-front with members of The Warriors discussing the evening's meeting.

Was only about a minute and a half - then it went straight into the opening credits. Think I've still got it knocking around on VHS somewhere, hoped it would appear on DVD - even as an extra scene - but hey-ho...
