A little bit of self indulgence...
An hour or so ago I heard that someone called David Guetta had taken a remix of music from a Citroen advert to #3 in the UK chart today
Then I heard it was David Guetta vs. The Egg. Which made me wonder if it was The Egg I was thinking about.
20 years ago, while at school in Bristol, I played in a band with twins Ned and Maff Scott. It was obvious at the time how much they loved music, at the time they were probably in at least another two bands at the same time. School ended and we headed off in different directions. They went to Oxford and formed a band called The Egg.
Next I heard of them was when the first album, Albumen, was released. I bought it while visiting another school friend in Washington DC in 1996, the guy in the record shop went on about what a great album it was - I felt very proud.
At the end of 1997, I was watching Gary Oldman's directorial (Luc Besson produced) debut - Nil By Mouth, in an otherwise empty cimena. Right at the end there is a slightly lighter scene, featuring an old fashioned singalong -Ned and Maff were on piano and drums I was surprised and impressed.
Since then I bought Travelator, and enjoyed their festival favourites status.
Today I am extremely happy for them.
