Just trying to install a legit copy of Generals but when it asks for the serial code I can enter numbers but not any letters. The code on the back of the manual has several letters in it so this problem is stopping me from getting any further in the installation process. Anybody else had this happen?
Oh and before anyone mentions it, yes, my keyboard is working as I wouldn't be able to write this post!

That's bizarre. I've had cause to call EA because of a serial code problem once in the past (it was missing some digits!) and they were pretty quick to sort me out with a new one after verifying I had a legitimate copy, but I don't think that would help in this case!
Have you tried typing it in Notepad then copying and pasting into the box(es) in the install program?

Thanks for the suggestion Alamar but copying and pasting did not work.
I think I will have to contact EA and sort out a new code. It appears others have had the same problem and it seems to be specific to the deluxe edition. The serial code definitely needs to be 22 numbers without any letters. My code is only 16 characters long comprising of both numbers and letters.
I just hope EA don't prove to be a pain in the backside over this.

They're actually really good. I thought I'd have to send it back or something, but it took about 10-15 minutes from picking up the phone to having a new serial code (this was for Sims 2 for the missus, too, so important stuff :D) they'll just ask you some details about where you bought it. Make sure you have the physical disc and the manual / case to hand, as they ask you questions to make sure you're not a chancer trying to get a serial.

Do you think it will make any difference that the game was bought second hand and have you still got the number you used?

I just got the number out of the manual. They asked me where I got the game (which was Amazon) - not sure if that had any bearing on anything, or was more about finding where the faulty batch came from.
