View Full Version : Which T.V will take a progressive signal via componant inputs
I need some help in buying a new T.V but need to know if there are any 36 inch widescreen models that will accept a progressive signal via componant inputs as this is the way I would like to connect a few consoles and a pioneer dvd player.
Thanks for any help given

Sadly not as far as TVs in the UK are concerned. The only way to get proper prog scan is to get a plasma or a projector :(.
The new Toshiba picture frame tv's have component in's\outs - not sure about progressive scan tho.
Most Toshiba widescreens have component inputs, but none can display prog scan images.
Note that some Panasonics and Hitachis have a built in de-interlacer, but this is not the same as accepting a prog scan input. The conversion to prog scan is done internally by the TV, with mixed results.
Damn I was going to buy the Tosh. for my xbox and cube oh well back to the drawing board
The GC and X-Box will still work with the Toshiba via component, you just won't get prog scan.
The only way to get prog scan for the X-Box on a CRT TV is to buy a Loewe Aconda/Vitros with a VGA card and plug in via VGA mode 640 x 480. The card will also allow 800 x 600 for a more high definition picture, but it will be interlaced.
The only way to get prog scan for the GC is to buy a plasma or projector.
