Hi,

My dad is after a freeview box, with PVR capabilities. This is going to be used in their holiday home, so not used that often (the place they'll be using it is in an area having it's analogue signal switched off in a year or two) so the recording capacity doesn't need to be massive.

I've had a look on a few other websites, but there doesn't seem to be any that come out overly well :( Anyone here got any recommendations? As it's only going to be used occasionally he's not looking to get something like a Humax, his budget is more around the £100 mark - can anyone recommend anything for that price?

thanks! :)

The £100 price point is a struggle.

Well, I'm sure he could be persuaded to spend more, I'll see what he can get - thanks for the links :) there was a £100 in Argos, which was a twin tuner, but hasn't had great reviews, I'll keep looking!

Humax 8000T would fit the bill. Only single tuner but rock solid.

Look at the DigiFusion FVRT90/95. It's a single tuner model for around £90. Mine's been 100% reliable since the software update a couple of months ago.

I've spoke to my dad about it all, to me, it seems there's an awful lot of types out there, and the reliability of them all is a bit hit and miss :( he might just get a plain freeview receiver, and hold off waiting until there's some more stable systems out there :(

As I said, the single tuner Humax is completely stable & reliable.

Tell him to check out a TIVO - need say no more!

he's only looking for something to use in their holiday home, so I think that, although a tivo would be great for at home, this is something that's going to be used once in a while, so not worth the big outlay :)

Perhaps this Digifusion box would be an option - it has twin tuners and an 80gb hard disk. You'll find it's quite a popular model and was mentioned in the bargain forum (http://www.thedvdforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=439389) recently; it's a refurb though.

Seconded, I got an 80GB one of these for 50GBP recently (Miller Bros closing sale) and its great. I use it in my bedroom and also have Sky+ downstairs but the Humax is great for freeview and is silent which is very nice.
