Ok sorted out an amp for my Uncle...
He's also now semi settled on a sanyo projector with progressive scan in via component.

I realise progressive scan is an NTSC thing really and he watches both R2 and R1. So thats got us thinking about DVD players with progressive scan.

The Arcam 88 can be progressive and looks pretty good but has a problem it only output a signal on the component out with NTSC material. (It wont output even a non progressive signal on the connection for PAL material) As the projector has limited inputs this is a problem and he doesnt want to be fiddling round the back of the dvd player all the time chaning connections.

(Ive heard that the 88 can be hacked / chipped to output PAL progressive but I dont think he'll go for that)

Basically is there another player out there that does progressive scan that will output a regular signal when he wants to watch a PAL disc?

Certainly would be nice if the player was silver too :-)

Thanks

Chris

you should look at the denon dvd 2800

easily modded to play pal prog/multi region and rce compatible as well and can be picked up for the bargain price of £580!!!!!!

and best of all it uses the silicon images chip for processing progressive scan

In stead of limiting yourself to just DVDs shown as progressive from the DVD player, why not go for something like the Iscan pro and watch progressive images from all sources?? ( assuming your TV/monitor can display progressive images ).

Unfortunately not. No CRT or Rear projection TVs for sale in the UK can display a progressive scan input, except for the Loewe's but only for RGB VGA with the VGA upgrade card.
