View Full Version : Mission FS2 AV
Anyone using these?Thinking of getting a set but was wondering what the're like with music as well as movies.
had mine 6 weeks and very happy with them...
they also have the wife's seal of approval.
perfect with movies in DD/DTS, excellent in stereo for music.
very nice set that also includes all the speaker cable and fixing bits required.
not sure if you can still get them for £400, but if you can, they are a bargain at that price.
I've had mine over a year now and haven't a bad word to say about 'em.
Fabulous for music. Got rid of my stereo.
And wife/baby friendly.
My 2 yr old doesn't even touch 'em. Make sure you get a decent amp though that's good with music.
Only need 70w per channel. I'd recommend Marantz 4200 and Denon 1602. Both s'posed to be good with music. I have the Denon 1801 and it's great.
Just had a look at empire direct and they've gone back up to 449 quid.

Had em for three months and think they're great.
I live in a small 1bet flat and I was never a fan of the "come and look at my BIG speakers" (I had a Tannoy Mercury setup)
I'm still amazed at the full sound field they produce and to my ears they sound great with music and movies.
Got mine for £411 from qed-uk
Having probs with the qed site.I'm not sure whether to go for the Missions or the Kef kht2005.I tkink the wife will prefer the Missions.
I had demos of both... there's not much in it between the fs-2 & the kef eggs.... both are excellent, usually £600-800.. and rated 5 stars by what-hifi.
at £400+, the fs2s are a steal.
they are definitely more discrete though.
mine are pretty much invisible in the 4 corners of my living room, angled & just below the picture rail... speaker cable goes along this so there is absolutely no visible cabling.
most people dont notice them until I've put some music or a movie on...., and the wife loves them.

Hmmm, I am looking for a speaker package like that.
I've got a 28" Widescreen Toshiba with built in DD 5.1, but I THINK Seperates would give me MUCH better sound.
I was edging towards the Tannoy MX4AV from Homecinema Heaven, but since It's my bedroom, and directly above the Front room, it might not please the parents.
Could the Mission FS2 AV pack be the answer? Anyone here upgraded from a budget DD 5.1 solution to these?

P.S Combined with a Pioneer VSX859RDS Reciever
very very happy with my set, i've also got some very lovely specialy designed speaker stands to go with them. Excellent buy IMO.
p.s you'll have fun and games trying to trim the bloody speaker cable.......just be patient.;) i had to leave it and go down the pub at one point cause it had totally ******** me of.
barthez... completely agree with you. the speaker cable took me hours to do.... like 15-20 minutes per end. wire cutters and strippers just went straight through.... soooo frustrating.
but thankfully a nice result & look once they're all done.
GAmbrose - I previously had Tannoy M3, M1, MC (but no sub) so similar to MX4AV. IMHO the Tannoys are excellent, but the missions are much better speakers. you should be able to tune the bass to your room better than the Tannoys. They also will get better with more expensive kit if you move up components... they are meant to be £800 after all.

UP, for the benefit of Mozza.
Thanks jon. :) I did look back a couple of pages before I posted, honest.
Mozza... they're a great set of speakers...
re: your question about not liking "small" speakers, you have to remember that these are not a conventional design since they are based on NXT's technology...(ie... dont compare them to Bose or similar designed "lifestyle" small cubes).
they maybe small (paperback book-sized) but the sound disperses differently - a much wider soundstage... so they dont have to be big at all... conventional speakers are fairly linear which is why they need to be so much bigger.
for stereo/ CD stuff, the Missions sound wonderful... positively 3-dimensional at times with the placement of sound.
for dplII/dd/dts, they are equally as good, with the sub backing them up for LFE duties.
the set also comes with 45m of speaker cable and mounting/ stand kits for virtually every setup you could think of - you wont have to buy anything else.
