What's stock from the refurb store like, what with Nano's being scratch-magnets? I've just got an iRiver T10, but fancy something with a bit more memory for my 'other half'.

Get an iRiver E10 = 6Gb and the same size as a Nano.

Usually spotless, often if its badly scratched they would have replaced the case as part of the refurb process. No guarantee though, but odd are it will be good.

Thanks to OP.
Ordered a 4Gb Black Nano
:)
No worries, thought there would be more takers than this, but after the recent ipod offers this good offer doesn't seem so good

They're not as bad as people say. If you're paranoid, however, you can always get an anti-scratch thingy from Shieldzone.com (http://www.shieldzone.com/item_description/APL6090.html).
Or get the same thing but at a third of the price here: www.bestskinsever.com - I've just stuck one of these on my Nano and would definitely use them on any ipod I buy in the future! I don't like cases but these are great for scratch protection, and as a bonus they reduce fingerprints and make it less slippery!
I somehow doubt that's quite as good as the one from shieldzone (check the videos for example), however this isn't really the place for debating iPod skins.

Has anyone ordered a refurb nano or other ipod from the apple refurb store before? Just like to know condition of the refurb items and the box. Are they like brand new or do they usually have scratches etc? Thanks in advance!
I ordered a 30 gig iPod photo last month for £135, it looked new to me.
Refurb store is either out of stock or closed for the night..

Check their faq and they claim it's exactly the same - lots of good feedback on ilounge.com too. I've got an invisibleshield on my iPod Video and this one looks and feels identical.
has anyone bought an ipod refurb from MicroDirect (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://scripts.affiliatefuture.com/AFClick.asp?affiliateID=17278&merchantID=467&programmeID=1740&mediaID=0&tracking=) ?
Their add states that they may have cosmetic marks - has anyone had one that can let me know the extent of these marks?
I'm desperate for a 20 gig ipod.

Huh? I definitely read here they still had a 12 month warranty.

That's not what I meant! I meant no guarantee that they will come in perfect scratch free condition, but as far as I know they always do.

I bought a 2GB one and it is mint :) ... I actually saw this offer before it got posted here (sorry run out of time to post it myself) but thought I would post to back-up what Kryten has said concerning their condition. :)
I am also going to go for the bestskinever as a bonus.
Thanks to op and M@rtin :)
Thanks to the OP, I ordered a 4Gb one yesterday and it has arrived less than 24 hours later. It is in absolutely mint condition, just not in the "proper" box.

Thanks OP! I ordered a 4gb white nano which arrived this morning. In as new condition - even had the factory cellophane and plastic covers on the nano itself! However, did not come with the original box (just a foam padded deliver box) no slip cover and no dock adapter.

Hey, Pompeyfan, you could have bought a box of matches or a packet of chewing gum if you wanted something small to carry about. A lot cheaper
BTW, what are the chances of Harry signing ANYONE else before we kick-off. Time is short and I feel less optimistic with each passing day. David Thompson is no world beater...

Thanks Op just ordered a 4gig.Any idea who delivers these.
With the Ipod having a dodgy reputation for the ipod's breaking after 12 months - isnt this an even bigger risk? (merely asking - im tempted, but worried)

Just here: Apple Care (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://tracker.tradedoubler.com/pan/TrackerServlet?p=2554&a=60823&g=32244&url=http://www.apple.com/uk/support/products/overview.html)
Thanks OP, went for a 4GB white one. I decided to get rid of my 30GB Video as the nano is so much more conveniently sized.
Glad I could get one for such a good price.

Got my black nano (4gb)today, it's immaculate. No more moving parts :-) Still got my charger etc from my 20gb. Cheers OP.
Yeah, my white 4GB arrived today. Decided against the black as the scratches that magically appear look worse to me on the black version.
Very happy with it, although would have preferred if it had come with the slipcase.

Hi Guys. I ordered oen of these for my son (thanks to the OP), but it didn't come with a slipcase or the iPod dock adapter. Is it just me or has anyone else had this?
The nano has never come with a dock adaptor as far as I am aware, the previous 2 I purchased certainly didn't. But yes, the slipcase was missing from mine too.

May consider this - it comes with a warranty after all (same as if you were buying new?). £83 for Nano 2gb good price!
As others have said - the only thing you don't get is the retail box - the rest of it is as new - the nano even has the cellophane wrapper....

Alternatively, if you can find a Boots with stock, you can pick up a new Ipod 40GB Photo for £10. You'll need to ring CS to get the item code, as it won't scan through the tills due to being a discontinued product. ;)
(I grabbed a 1GB Shuffle from Boots today for £10, so am happy).
