Steve - not wanting to appear cheeky but any chance of some sort of discount for shipping to the republic of ireland in the next few weeks.

I realise overheads are quite high - just asking

We do some offers that result in discounts for ROI.
Last week we did a forum discount that gave 5% off everything regardless of location. We had lots of orders from ROI while that offer was on.
We also constantly run an offer in which if customers from ROI (or EU) order 2 items from the discount delivery section (http://svp.co.uk/products-list.php?cid=225) then the shipping cost is reduced to 99p no matter what else is on the order.

What I will do in the near future is an offer whereby if you order over £x.xx we'll do international shipping for 99p. I can't confirm right now how much £x.xx will be or exactly when the offer will be, but I'll make sure we do it during August.

Order the goods.
Let the courier attempt delivery.
When no one answers the door, they will leave a note saying, "they called but no one was in".
You then take this note to the depot and collect it yourself or re arrange delivery for a later date.

Simple.

I ordered a bunch of stuff today and did not see this thread! :(

I guess I won't be able to cancel before the weekend is up.

A bit cheeky, but any chance of you can refund the difference on postage for a new customer Steve? ;)

I was glad to see the 2.5" hard drives on SVP as I can upgrade the slow as treacle 30GB drive in my laptop now! 80GB should give me room to actually do stuff with the laptop rather than just using it for the internet. What with some bits for a friend at work and some dvds and a Pioneer burner I ended up spending over £100!

I was suprised at the hoops you have to jump through to place an order though - boy is that a long checkout procedure! I know security is important but there are so many pages in that process that it's getting beyond a joke. Plus if you're paying by credit card the process takes you to HSBC and then barclaycard pages for security probing! I'm glad I only order from SVP rarely as doing that regularly would really be a pain! Don't get me wrong, I like SVP and have always had great service from them but it feels like I'm doing a tax return rather than an order for some blank dvds!

Does this 99p shipping apply only to orders in the discount section or for anything over £30? Just tried to checkout some Datawrite DVD-R but the "sunnyholiday" code will not apply with economy delivery.

Ignore! Sorted, had to allow script in firefox.

The Umax's should be multi region out of the box :(

If for any reason there are any that are not multi region then I am told this code will work. (Can you tell it was written by someone who does not use English as their first language?)
Please report success/failure:

Step 1: Power on the Machine

Step 2: Open the Loader

Step 3: Put bottom of the remote controller and input 5168

Step 4: Choose the zone 0. (it means free zone)

I've just tried this and the code does work (steve, it was me who emailed you guys this afternoon)

However, setting it to Region Zero dont seem to work 100%

i.e put the code in, you get the Region 0 - 6 option. Set it to 1, region 1's play fine. Set it to Region 0, it wont play them. Tried different region 1 discs as well

Odd really.

Not too bothered as its not my main player but some people like the ease of putting any disc in, press play without a remote control hack.

Might be worth amending the description on the site :)
