View Full Version : [PSP] Every Extend Extra
I don't even have a PSP yet (foolishly sold mine just before xmas), but intend to rectify that within the coming months ;)
Been watching some videos, reading interviews with Tetsuya Mizuguchi, and playing the PC original Every Extend (which is free (http://nagoya.cool.ne.jp/o_mega/product/e2.html) ) that this is based on, and it's wetting my whistle !!
They've changed the music to fit in with the Q style (see Lumines) and personally I'm not keen on this change as the music with the PC original fits the game perfectly. Also, the graphics of the PSP version don't look anywhere near as clean as the PC version which is a bit of a bugger, especially as the PC version doesn't require much to run.
The official site for Every Extend Extra (the PSP title) is http://www.everyextendextra.com and there you can download a trial version of the PSP game (but play it on your PC - confusing I know).
Theres some interesting interviews with Mizuguchi here: http://q.1up.com/

Been playing the PC version, in a similar vain to things like rRootage and Warning Forever. Quite like it, is very hard though - or I'm very rubbish!
Whack this replay into your Replay folder of the PC version:

5.6 million points on heavy mode.
Crazy

how do you download the pc demo of the psp game? i went to the right page but there is only a link to an .exe which isn't there and a few screenshots?
Sorry, remembered it was a bugger to find. The other exe was just a checker. This links to the demo download :)

thanks
had a go of the old pc one and it seems good for a free game but a bit limited for a full priced one, hope they have added to it :)
What the heck are you suppose to do on this?
The PSP version is in Japanese so I'm a bit lost.
Doesn't look like a shooter to me, so what is it?

you have to blow yourself up! when near the boxes (or whatever they are in the psp version) the boxes blow up taking others with them to make as big a chain as possible to increase your time and score. then i think when the timer runs out (?) you fight a boss in much the same way as you play the rest of the game, not sure if this is right as i didn't play it much, but its something like that :)
after reading the good impressions on ntsc-uk, i think i'm going to order this :)
My most played game on the PSP at the moment - even more so than Ultimate Ghosts and Goblins
Probably in the top 5 PSP games currently out

What's the JPN version like, is it easy enough to get around the menus etc?

I am at a total loss as to what the hell I'm supposed to do, but I'm loving every (extend extra) minute of it.
Rez is pretty much my favourite game of all time, so I'm prepared to go with Mizuguchi - I want Rez on my PSP!
Rez Extra on psp would be great! I'm really enjoying EEE and find myself in a trance like state whilst playing it sometimes.... haven't enjoyed the music as much as some of the Lumines originals so far but then perhaps they (and vocals) wouldn't work as well in this setting.
Are people playing with the d-pad or the nub? Any tips? Only got to the 5th stage, of 10?, so far.

i'm crap at it, but anyway - make sure you get the quickens - as quickly and as many as possible - they are important - there's some sort of trick to getting the last one like you have to get numbers 7/8 at the same time?
:)
That would make sense, i always race for the quickens but have never got better than one of the full set and figured it would have something to do with collecting several in one go.... i did play the tutorial on Lumines 2 but that was a while ago.

if you already collect the quickens then i don't think the last one is going to make that much difference for getting to the end, i think it would help with high scores and accessing the higher routes and stuff - don't think i've ever got all 8!
good luck!

Actually i got 8 several times last night shortly after posting, ironically i never completed a single stage that i achieved that in though - obviously didn't dodge the plethora of 'blocks'' well enough.
Once you have 7 of 8 (or is it 9 of 10?) quickens stop appearing but if you collect the first 6 and destroy the 7th, wait until the 8th appears before picking it up.
Still not got past stage 5 yet but only really started it Friday evening.
higher routes and stuff
Higher routes? What's all this then. I did get in the impression at one point i was playing along different paths a la Outrun etc but i think that was because i seemed to have unlocked some stages for Caravan mode but not others.

thanks for the tip how to get the last quicken
i've not played this for ages but iirc if you do well on a level you go to a harder (well i think its supposed to be harder?) next stage and it shows you your route between stages, the higher you go the harder it gets i think? i'm crap though and tend to go the whole way along the bottom, which helped unlock one of the bonus stages :D the other is apparently unlocked if you go the whole way along the top route - i've never got anywhere near doing that.
