View Full Version : Recommend me a new TV for £1000 or less with child proof cabinet that is HD ready.
My trusty 8 year old 32inch Philips widescreen just blue up 5 minutes before the end of Lost.
I could do with something that comes with a toddler proof stand/cabinet to keep skybox, dvd player and amp in.
Also it must be HD ready. So what can I get that will last me another 8 years for 1000 or less?
No preferences as to LCD or plasma or even CRT just as long as the image and build quality are there.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

HD versions are dearer though.

I want it to last a fair few years so it must be fairly future proofed and HD ready, but thanks.

will hopefully get it delivered next few days !!
You may want to consider wall mounting if you go lcd/plasma...
By the time they're old enough to reach it, they'll know what dangers to their life it brings...
or get a tv on a pedestal stand a cabinet like this from ikea that is 60cms high that the little cherub cant reach the tv on.

I'd say that it was bowing under the weight of the TV, but according to this (http://www.ikea.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?topcategoryId=17071&catalogId=10103&storeId=7&productId=52065&langId=-20&categoryId=15962&chosenPartNumber=30086752) it's capable of withstanding 100kgs..
Geoggy: Is that unit really 120cm wide - it seems a lot smaller. I'm looking for something child proof to now and that looks ok..

they were spot on until my son decided to swing on them.

it is that wide mate. maybe the 42 inch tv makes it look smaller??

42"? well that explains it then - from the pic I thought it was a 32"..
TH42PX60 is the best buy (shown in picture) in my openion, though you may have to stretch a bit (£1100ish)
