Hi got a Dansai for xmas and I want to record to a minidisc recorder but I havent managed it yet. There are three options for audio out and its obviously not the analogue one. Anyone know which option to use.

digital optical (if its one of the 3)

It depends on how you are connecting to your minidisc...

If using an optical cable , you would have to set the sound output to spdif/pcm...It will probably still work at spdif/raw.

If connecting by twin phono cables the output should be set to analogue.

I'd recommend twin phonos over the optical out *in this case* as recordings made be me using a Toslink had the first few seconds of each track systematically chopped off; you could see the MD report *no signal* between tracks and then not react fast enough when the music kicked back in and the sync started again.

Culabula,
When listening to CDs through the digital output (connected to my Digitheatre), i don't lose any of the track. So it seems strange you should lose some of the track when connecting to minidisc from the same output.

Hmmm ... Just a thought.. Did you use the output set at spdif/pcm ?
Its just that in that mode the player surely has to detect whether its a DTS or straight pro-logic (or stereo) soundtrack .Cos this is the setting for DTS output.I'm guessing this could cause mometary sound loss whilst the mode is detected.Perhaps it works better in spdif/raw (this is the mode i use - it works for DD 5:1, pro-logic and stereo).

Yes, you're probably right; I didn't try the RAW setting but I shall.
