Put my girlfriends old mobile phone on EBay and it finished today.

The winning bidder has 0 feedback and had the account created 12th July.

I sent them a invoice and got this mail back (I would expect instant payment notification from Paypal):

hello

i want to tell you that payment has been made via soonest they will contact you with the payment information and the cofirmation of the payment

i want you to please help me to send the item to the address that the paypal consultant gave you

thanks

Mrs felicia

The address they want it sent to is in Canada (despite only offering it to UK customers). I do have a good second offer...

What would you do?

does it matter really? get the payment, preferably through western union or something so they cant claw it back then you're ok at least

I'd cancel the winning bid and offer it to the second highest bidder.

At least they've got some positive feedback and, I assume, are in the UK.

A new buyer with zero feedback and a foreign address, bidding on an item that can clearly only be sent to a UK address = likely scam.

Western Union??????????????????????

Nothing wrong with Western Union as long as you collect your cash before sending the goods. Once you've got the cash then nobody can get it back. If you send the goods on the basis of a "Western Union" e-mail then you probably will be ripped off.

As for this transaction, I agree cancel the bid and move onto your second highest.

Western Union??????????????????????

Western Union is probably the safest payment method to use if you are a seller

Western Union is probably the safest payment method to use if you are a seller

Which is why fraudulent sellers almost always seem to ask for you to pay that way :)

One thing I don't get about the westernunion thing is....I have had money sent to me via western union and I have had to go down to a high street branch and actualy get the cash from them.

That's right, what is safer than cash in your hand? (assuming you check authenticity etc ;) )
