The highlight of the sporting summer is almost upon us - barring the WC of course:D. I think Mr Woods will win, as he looked impessive in his last outing and @ 6/1, that is his biggest major price this millenium! I've had £10 EW on him and will be having a load more bets tomorrow/during the ch'ship.

I think there was an Open Golf thread already on here somewhere. I live just up the road (by the Cottage Loaf - Thurstaston) and the area is teaming with camera crews, spectators, tourists, players and other transient souls. There's a fabulous atmosphere around here at the moment and I urge you to come along and absorb it :) I'm off down to Hoylake later, not to watch the golf, but just to sit outside the many bars and restaurants down there and soak it up  Anyone else?

Dave.

Is Pard Harrington an expert at this course? His odds have tumbled from 33/1 last night to a best price now of 20/1!

Tough one for betting this (i wont tell the Bjorn story again).

Adam Scott £2.50 ew @ 40/1 & Jimenez £2.50 ew @ 125/1.

I hope a Brit comes close though Paul Lawrie style :)

Gone for Lee Westwood this morning at 129/1. Always have a wee flutter on Lee as he is always there or there abouts in most major championships.

Jim Furyk at 28/1 is looking a good bet
Also had Fred Couples 50/1 Top American and Monty 11/1 Top European.

Nice round from Lee today...looking good at 3 under.
At least my couple of quid on him makes things interesting for the weekend (unless he goes and blows it tomorrow of course!).

See he is still 100/1 on betfair...seems like a good price for a daft punt.

I live round the corner from the Marine Lake. Whenever they do their cheesy 'we have nothing better to show' pan across it you can see my house (well, the roof) :)

Keep it going guys !!!!My main bet on Woods is looking ok. I think/hope he'll be in the mix come Sunday. My smaller bets are doing better - I have about 15 and not one is over par. Looking the best so far are £2ew on The Mechanic @50/1 to be Top European and £1.50ew on Lehman @80/1 to be top yank.

I meant to put a bet on Furyk last night but forgot. I feel I may regret so I'm gonna have £2ew on him now at the best price I can find.

On the Open site (http://www.opengolf.com/home/default.sps), why will the leaderboard not show for me?

be surprised if he makes a mess of it now. i went to the last practice day on wednesday and at the time i said he'd walk it - the course and conditions looked set up for him.

As previously said, I live very local to the golf and my brother in law decided to moonlight from his usual hospital job while on his annual leave. He applied to be one of the official drivers and after a couple of interviews, got the job. They gave him the use of a real nice Lexus SUV RX400 and the usual official 'Open' polo shirts to look professional :) On his first day (last Wednesday) he had Ernie Els in and took him to his hired residence in W.Wirral. Ernie was asking about where to eat and my Brother in Law recommended 'Linos' in Hoylake, he was later sighted in there much to the restaurant owner's delight  He also had JJ Henry in, fresh from his win at the Buick Championships in the US ($760,000 win IIRC) but to cap it all, yesterday he uplifted Tiger Woods. My Brother in Law couldn't get the door closed properly because his security guards hadn't closed the boot properly so he had to jump out and re-close it (after trying with the electronic closing gadget), Tiger commented "sometimes the old ways are the best"
A common theme right the way through with the all the golfers, polite, down to earth pleasant guys. It was quite an eye opener for my BIL. We also got a lift in the official car after we'd been out in Hoylake on Wednesday, you should see the way people gawp at you when travelling in it, we waved at complete strangers who thought we must have been famous
Sorry I had to share that with you!
Dave.

I have a golfer staying next door to me (haven't worked out who it is yet but they're still in it!) and so far I've seen a black Lexus, a silver Lexus and a gold Lexus turn up every morning :)

Truly professional performance by Tiger. Had a plan, stuck to it and responded to pressure from DiMarco brilliantly.

Amazing job by the BBC in their coverage. Peter Alliss et al make golf such a joy to watch.

Can you believe that Tiger's wife has a twin sister?

Went to my mate's parent's house today which backed onto the 15th hole so had a completely free view of the par 3 and had a few beers and a roast dinner thrown in for good measure!

Congrats to Tiger - he's a gentleman and a model pro.

Gotta say though that the crowd today was the worst behaved crowd I've ever heard at the Open - pretty sure I heard someone shouting "I want my hole" !! a few times.
