having watched this on UK Gold over Xmas i must say that i really enjoyed it. After reading reviews of it i expected it to be really bad but was very surprised to find an extremely watchable, fun, pirate adventure.

I am now extremely interested in getting it on dvd.

Even better is the fact that Momentum are releasing what seems to be an excellent version for £9.99!

Fromm www.r2-dvd.org:-

Here's all the details from the PR:

"Cutthroat Island" (1995, 119 minutes, certificate 15, widescreen, Additional Features: Trailer, Scene Selection, Making Of, Behind The Scenes Interviews, Story Boards and Audio Commentary by Renny Harlin)

Currently reprising her role opposite a cute little mouse in 'Stuart Little 2', Geena Davis has a rather taller but no less cute co-star in the shape of Matthew Modine in this rollicking adventure set on the high seas. Directed by her then husband, Renny Harlin ('Deep Blue Sea '), Davis plays the captain of a seventeenth century pirate ship on the trail of a fortune in buried gold. If you enjoy all-out, non-stop action and movies in the tradition of Errol Flynn, Sinbad and Tarzan, then grab some popcorn and enjoy the ride!

Now notice the certificate, it's a 15!!

After doing a search on the IMDB i found out that the PG version over here was cut by over a minute!

Anyone idea what exactly was cut out of it ?

Now at first i thought the certificate might have been a mistake but it seems that the video version has also been deleted hopefully meaning that Momentum have gained rights for both video and dvd. If so does this mean that we could get the uncut version due to the fact that no more copies with the PG certificate are available ?

Sorry for the confusion but then again sometimes the BBFC aren't exactly easy to predict

I did a bit of checking on the BBFC site and Cutthroat Island (I liked it too by the way) has only been submitted once and was cut by 4 seconds. Headbutts and the like by all accounts.

As to IMDB's claim of a further 1 minute and 12 seconds of cuts I think someone got confused by the UK version having a shorter running time. Sounds like PAL speedup to me.

it's definitely over 1min of cuts. make sure you tick both options for cinema and for video and you'll see two findings.

For the cinema it was cut by over a minute and then an additional 4 secs was cut for the video version.
