Just wanted an opinion as considering upgrading, also where did you get it and what price did you pay - looking for multi region only.
cheers.

Shakey,
Just got one to replace my Pioneer 737. I was sceptical but bloody hell am i pleased! Besides being absolutely stunning to look at, it also does SACD and has component outputs too-though it doesn't support progressive scan.
Feature wise its pretty much got the lot, picture enhancement modes, gamma level adjustment, 5.1/SACD decoder, twin scart, s-video, gold plated everything, and one thing that struck me is that it is sooooo quiet and quick in operation. It just exudes class and i thoroughly recommend it to you. The picture performance is first rate, as is the sound-whether it be datastream or passed through the internal decoders. CD replay is great too, not the best, but extremely polished and well on par with a good £300-£350 dedicated CD player. Picture quality thru all outputs is excellent, though if you can use it, the component feed simply wipes the floor with everything and will have your mouth agape.
Bought in silver from Sevenoaks Hifi for £449 and multi region as well(RCE compatible too!).
Does this make your mind up? The 737 was amazing but i had a chance to sell for BIG profit, the Sony is easily on par in my eyes.
Buy one and enjoy

I'm still in two minds whether to shell out for a Pioneer DV-747a or just plump for one of these. I've never bought anything else but Sony products, but this player looks ugly compared to the sexy looking Pioneer (plus the Pioneer plays DVD-Audio too)

what do you want to watch? the player or the film. anyway I think the sony looks understated great.

It's just that the Pioneer has better specs and has the looks to go with it (and a much bigger price tag to boot :o ), which is an added bonus for me anyway - I like to strike a balance between aesthetics and functionality with my AV equipment. I am a huge fan of Sony products normally, but my trusty 725 looks better then this. Now the 9000 though, mmmmmm.....that's one sexy piece of kit.

I also have a 725, gave it to my son, you are right about the looks. incidentaly all the usa forums rate the 9000 as the best dvd player ever!

Indeed it is:) My old S7700 has a faster layer change:) Looks like I`ll be using this DV747A for a while now whilst I get a Arcam at the right price:)
