View Full Version : Kylie to play Wembley Arena!
She's announced two dates at Wembley Arena for 2nd and 3rd Jan next year. Tickets go on sale Friday morning at 9am.
I expect she's going to get a hell of a welcome back :)
Where'd you get this info mate?

Quite a few sites are carrying this:

Hmmm, I dunno what Kylie site I was looking at then, seeing as it didn't mention a bean! lol

I'd urge anyone who hasn't seen her before to go. I went last year towards the end of the tour in Brum and it was fantastic (thats coming from someone who thrives on rock music and gigs)
I'm sure she wouldn't dissapoint on this mini tour but do watch out for ticket prices. It was a bit pricy last time but i'd say she did live up to for the show.
Over at the SayHey forums they reckon London only and they usually know what they're talking about. Tickets are £49 + fees, by the way ..

I saw the last show three times and it was great every time. I'm sorely tempted to make the journey south...
Well that was a fiasco. Did anyone actually manage to book tickets using the Bookings Direct website (as advertised on the kylie.co.uk site)? I tried a good 10 times, got decent seats each time with "your seats will be held for 5 minutes", whacked all my details in and then ended up with a "sorry there was a problem with your order" message please call blah blah blah" which, of course, is permanently engaged. So either I've bought about 40 tickets or none!
Ho hum.
I booked mine through Seetickets I think - don't know where I am sitting - just got the confirmation saying you have 2 Seats for Kylie
Bizarre thing is despite the fact that both dates are undoubtedly sold out now you can still go onto the bookings direct site and it'll still allocate you seats in virtually any part of the Arena, including the A blocks right next to the stage.
I feel a lippy phone call coming on :)

Booked mine through see tickets aswell. probably right at the back :)
They've just added tickets for the Friday and Saturday too. Got meself some for the Saturday, although, as per previous posters, I've no idea what seats!

Urgh all the Wayahead sites gave me errors right at the end of the process. Rang up and got through to Bookingsdirect finally and got A4 row 7 tickets for the then just released Saturday night :D
Sheesh, there are already 187 separate auctions on Ebay for Kylie tickets with one already up to £460 for a pair of block A tickets
Sheer madness.
Just checked my tracking number on Seeticktes - turns out I have block B3 tickets facing the stage!! sorted!!!
She siad as part of the Sky interview last weekend that she was actually going to play a whole week at Wembley arena. So more dates are obviously planned.

If it's anything like last time, you're better off waiting until nearer the time anyway
1) Ebay touts will probably have overbought (as we're seeing with Madonna)
2) "Production" seats will probably get released...
I bought a ticket on the day of release last time which was poor, and managed to get one off Ebay for another date (a couple of rows from the front, less than half price) and for my third show, I bought a pair from the box office during the week of the show and was again just a couple of seats away from the stage... can't believe people who buy tickets on Ebay are so stupid, to be honest.

It's always worth hanging back until much closer to the show date for tickets if you're going to get them on Ebay. As you say, in most cases the Madge tickets are now going for far less than face value. I actually picked up a pair of tickets just the other day for the "VIP area (S6)" at one of her concerts next month for an absolute bargain price.
Never really thought of trying the box office close to the show, although a friend of mine managed to blag front row Sarah McLachlan tix doing just that. The git.

That's because Sarah's fan club keep a lot of good seats and release them if there's not the demand. I got front row Hammersmith from the fan club.
With no Manchester I'm not bothering this time; I went for a second time on the last tour and picked up a ticket off some scrote outside for a fiver. Getting a single for £20-30 or so off ebay come December should be easy enough.

This looks interesting -
Kylie's New Year's Eve London gig
Pop star Kylie Minogue is returning to the UK stage to play a one-off London concert on New Year's Eve.
The Australian singer, who recently took time off to receive treatment for breast cancer, will play the 31 December show at Wembley Arena.
...
A dancefloor with capacity for 3,500 people will be built at the Arena for the show. The venue will stay open until 0100GMT.
...
Tickets for the New Year's Eve show - which cost £65 - will go on sale at 0900GMT on Thursday 14 December.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6174153.stm
If I had any gay or kylie-fan friends I might have gone!!! Have been to a few of her concerts and they've always been a good laugh - this'll probably be equally fun.
I bet Wembley will fleece everyone for at least a further £65 on a couple of drinks mind you.

I can only console myself that I'm in the front block for three of the other shows. :p
I have 4 seated tickets on sale at face value £71.50 each for the New Years Eve concert.
Quite a few MEN pairs went for £60 or so on ebay at the weekend. Amazing how many people have exams or get ill when big gigs are taking place. Still expect to get me and little miss GK in for £50 or less.
OK, off tonight. Anyone know what time the diva-ette herself is on? I can take or leave any dodgy support band so I'm assuming around 9pm?

No!!! There's no support and she has an interval! She apparently comes on between 8:15 and 8:30.
Off tonight myself.
Whoo, thanks for the info Mike!
KennyVader
06-01-2007, 12:43
Yes she came on at 8.15 on Wednesday night, no support act. They played some James Brown type "Get Up!" track loudly over the speakers to wake the crowd up and get them clapping, soon as that finished, straight into the show. Then as mentioned, an interval around 9.20-9.40, and then she was back on, right until 10.50 (including pulling three little "showgirl" kids out of the audience for a mini singsong, which the band joined in on, and was frankly hilarious and sweet as hell at the same time; I don't know if she does that every night).
It's a great show. Check out the cybermen dancers near the end! You should really enjoy it. There are two or three "new" songs that I didn't really like, most likely simply because they are new; but the rest of the gig is a rollercoaster hit-fest.

Eh? The only new song in the show is "White Diamonds" which is the third song in, everything else is at least a couple of years old. I guess a lot of people won't recongise the songs from Impossible Princess though.
'White Diamond' is fantastic!
How come she cut 'Your disco needs you' from the re-vamped show? That was a major highlight in Showgirl version 1. :(
Last night's show was cut short because of illness and the rest are in doubt

They've announced that as of this morning all remaining shows are expected to go ahead.
Edit: Hmm looks like the MEN Arena site have just remmoved the paragraph about all the shows going ahead from their statement.
I suddenly feel very lucky. First night at the MEN on Friday was phenomenal, absolutely wild. Essentially, it's the original 'Showgirl' show with some smart tweaks. Visually, it's been largely re-staged within similar 'acts' as last time. Examples - 'Confide in Me' and the high spot 'Dreams' are still but there are some cool additions like 'Turn it Into Love' and 'Too Far'.
She did mention her cold on Friday but it only really became apparent during the encores where she sounded croaky when she spoke and let the backing vocalists take over a bit on 'Especially for You' and 'Love at First Sight'.

I went on both Friday and Saturday, obviously. Her voice was much worse on Saturday. Similarly, she was actually worse on Friday than she had been on the preceding Saturday at Wembley.
Doesn't look like they're going to be rescheduled, perhaps - the "they're going ahead" statement seems to have vanished from the MEN site. :(

Give 'em a chance, the venue may not be free on the right days to reschedule (maybe they could only get two more days), and even if they do find a free day, they've got to call up a lot of lighting, staging, sound and transport companies to see if they can keep the gear around or delay it being shipped to the next venue.
If they go the refund route, there's probably an insurance company involved, that's probably dragging it's heels and arguing, since more than 50% of the gig was played, and 10,000 tickets at £50 is £1/2m.
It almost certainly takes more than one working day to do all that. It makes sense to first sort out the people who haven't had any concert yet. I am sure they won't forget you.
mikegray
15-01-2007, 20:18
More than 50% definitely wasn't performed. 40% or less.
I can see that ticketing of a rescheduled gig would be a mare unless everyone has kept their stubs.

15-01-2007, 22:45
While I agree in part with some of what you say, how difficult would it be to at least put a statement out to the effect; "...this is what we're attempting to do...we'll update you when we know more"? Instead we get silence - while everyone else gets a reschedule.

Granted, there is stage removal and eveything that goes with it in time for the following event, but by the very nature of the industry involved I don't believe that they don't have the infrastructure to make a decision within 24 hours. Additionally there is the issue as to whether Kylie wants to fit in this additional reschedule in such a compressed timeframe, but she's had 48 hours to decide...
If they go the refund route, there's probably an insurance company involved, that's probably dragging it's heels and arguing, since more than 50% of the gig was played, and 10,000 tickets at £50 is £1/2m. Not my problem. Well, yeah, indirectly I guess it is. An entire section of the first half was omitted; I would estimate 35-40% was played. The first half was very padded, almost to the point that makes you wonder if it was intentional.
One thing that I have yet to see mentioned on any forum concerning Saturday's events... while she may have been ill, and vocally not at her best - it's ironinc that she did manage a very good, impromptu and almost acapella rendition of Got To Be Certain prior to leaving the stage...
TBH, while I have every respect for KM, and I sincerely wish her well it's a disgrace that it has come to 48 hours without comment. For one, I would welcome a reschedule with open arms - even if it does mean the 360-mile round-trip that I did yet again. Yes, I'd do it. If a reschedule is not possible, all is not lost but at least the Minogue camp should do the decent thing and issue a refund.
£57 may be nothing to Ms Minogue, but to a very large amount of her fans this is money not easily found.

Implying what exactly?
And inevitably we have people wading in with their outrage about having to wait....gosh more than two whole days for a decision despite knowing nothing about the facts or logistics surrounding how one goes about rescheduling/refunding of a half performed show.

Implying what exactly?Implying nothing, but I fail to see why she sang GTBC so well, and THEN threw in the towel!
And inevitably we have people wading in with their outrage about having to wait....gosh more than two whole days for a decision despite knowing nothing about the facts or logistics surrounding how one goes about rescheduling/refunding of a half performed show.Yep, we do. My other half and I invested a sum total of £329 which included only travel costs, accomodation and concert tickets. We got less than 40 minutes of a promised 2h 10min show. You may be able to afford an outlay of that kind; we would never have travelled so far, and booked overnight accomodation had we not been on a promise for a full-legnth concert.
Granted I know nothing about rescheduling or refunding shows... but I do know that in less than 24 hours after cancelling the Monday a Tuesday shows promoters were able to announce a reschedule.
Kindly explain how a concert cancelled at an earlier time takes longer to reschedule.
Patience I had... I had for around 48 hours, but now I have lost that patience and am angry.
My anger is not with Kylie cancelling, it's with the complete disregard of the promoters or whoever is behind this and their lack of communication to around 15,000 patrons; a complete disgrace.
Implying nothing, but I fail to see why she sang GTBC so well, and THEN threw in the towel!
Well I don't think we actually need to spell out what you're implying do we ;)

Kennyvader's comments above make good sense to me (who, admittedly, also knows nothing about the logistics of rescheduling or refunding a 10,000+ seater event that was halted due to illness). The delay is almost certainly down to insurance matters.
The MEN website says to wait for an announcement which makes it obvious that the promoters are trying to sort something out, so why not just wait for the entire facts before wading in about what a disgrace it all is.

The MEN website says to wait for an announcement which makes it obvious that the promoters are trying to sort something out, so why not just wait for the entire facts before wading in about what a disgrace it all is.Where does it say to wait for an announcement? I'm yet to see the MEN/Ticketmaster/See Tickets or any other of Kylie's agents specifically address Saturday night. Absolutely nothing has been said about Saturday.
From the MEN website:
Please note, there is still no news about Kylie's show on Saturday 13 January being rescheduled at present. Please continue to check back here for the latest information.I also fail to see how, as you say, the above statement makes it "obvious" that something is going on.
...Indeed, I've been "checking back" for 2 1/2 days, and not one word about what is (if anything) going on in regard to Saturday's performance.
I've a right to "wade in" and be angy IMHO; I am down at £330 and not so much as an apology or final statement from the people who took a third of it.
I'm not having a go at you specifically, but I am increasingly annoyed at other people who are criticising the increasing numbers of people who feel short-changed. No doubt these people critiscising the complainees did manage to see the entire Kylie show and thus aren't out of pocket. How lovely.
You say that nothing has been said about Saturday and then you go and post something from the MEN site directly underneath that specifically tells you to keep checking back for more information re: Saturday
I can understand that you're miffed but blasting off about what a disgrace it all is when the issue isn't even settled is, well a bit premature.
Each to his own I guess

I think it's just that she's managed to reschedule two but hasn't done anything about Saturday, which gives people the impression that they're not going to bother rescheduling or refunding.
On the subject of the acapella rendition, she really was having problems with her voice on Friday night. I've got no doubt that she really was finding it hard to perform.

Yes, I know. I was at both Friday's and Saturday's show (and the preceding Saturday's show at that) and her voice was noticeably worse. That she did a short snippet of a song well is hardly indication of a conspiracy, compared to her not even trying to hit the high note at the end of "On A Night Like This" or skipping the difficult "Confide In Me".

Seriously, I am sure they will sort something out. Kylie does appear to show a genuine interest in and cares about all her fans.
Undoubtedly the problem is with some insurance company and the very unusual (for a gig of this scale) circumstances of cancelling part-way through. We all know how they often try to pay only a minimum amount back to individuals who've had their car wrecked or their house burgled. Probably they are doing the exact same here and refusing to pay out, or trying to only pay out half or something, so the promoters are still fighting it out with them. The nights that have been rescheduled, because they were never held at all, it'll be cut and dried from an insurance point of view, and maybe they were easily able to secure the venue and equipment for two more nights. But maybe three nights is not so easy. Quite possible that some key piece of fairly unusual gear like the laser or the massive sound desk is booked on to another artist's tour, the hire company can maybe let them have it an extra two nights, but not three, it wouldn't be unheard of for the really expensive kit to be booked as finely as that. And just because the MEN website says there is nothing on next week does not necessarily make it so, such places are very often booked out for a week to set up and hold rehearsals with someone's lighting rig before it goes touring - for instance Kylie's rig for one of her previous tours was set up at the Excel centre in Docklands to check it out and rehearse with it, but she never played to the public there; Earl's Court is often used for similar rehearsals, but they don't put such bookings on the web site.
Or as someone suggested before, maybe they are having a nightmare trying to decide how to handle a refund or reschedule, do they rely on people having kept ticket stubs (a lot won't have, so they'll go mad) or do they just refund to credit cards (which'll mean refunding back to a lot of touts, so angering a lot of genuine fans who sadly bought through such people). Maybe they are waiting to ask Kylie herself what she wants to do, but maybe she is sick in bed?
Anyway who knows? A statement that they're working on it would be nice, but really you know they will be working on it; it's only been 1.5 working days so far, and no way can they just forget about it. Clearly some very inconvenienced people here, but I think a bit more compassion for Kylie wouldn't go amiss. I am confident that she will sort something out, even if she does end up personally instructing her management to do better. If nothing's been announced by the time the next concert happens, then I'd say it's fair to go nuts.

Kylie Minogue has added an extra tour date for fans who saw her perform only half a show last week due to ill health.
The star was forced to pull out early from Saturday night's Showgirl Homecoming performance at the Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena.
All fans who attended that show can use their tickets to attend a new date on January 23.
Minogue said: "I'd like to apologise to those who attended last Saturday night's show at the MEN Arena. I was hoping to feel better as the day progressed,
but unfortunately the opposite was true.
"I'm sorry for all those inconvenienced by the postponements."
Shows scheduled for Monday and Tuesday this week have already been moved to January 21 and 22.
The 38-year-old star denied reports that she had defied doctors' orders by taking the stage last Saturday.
"I have not at any stage ignored the advice of my doctors. In fact, I postponed two shows this week on their advice in order to be healthy enough to finish the tour.
"Nearly all of my crew were hit by this terrible flu during the course of this tour and despite my best efforts I too succumbed last week.
"I am now overjoyed to announce that I have been declared fit to return to the stage."
