Hi

Have £1600 on my current Egg Card (http://www.thedvdforums.com/jump2.php?url=http://valuecreditcard.at/thedvdforums) - I may around £150 to £250 a month off if I can

Interested in getting a card that will give me 12 months (maybe more) 0% on balance transfers and transfering my balance across

Can anyone recommend a good deal ?

Ideally would like it so could do direct debit payments (as I do with my Egg card)

Also - one BIG thing is it can NOT be Barclaycard or anyone connected with them. I myself have used them twice with bad experiances (was sworn at once on phone by someone who had obviously had a bad day)

Thanks

MSE (http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1122985312,39518,) is a useful guide.

There are not alot of cards around at the moment that will let you transfer money into your account, especially with the 2% handling fee in place.

This week I applied for a credit card from the POST office, 6 months 0% on BT and shopping. No fees or handling charge, you best be quick as once they have reached their target amount of customers things will change.

I also hold a virgin card, called them this week to cancel got offered 0% until March 2007 and handling fee for BT of 2% capped maximum payment of £35, which I snapped up.

Seems Mint card is possibly best deal

Only problem I have is it seems they could be same company as Egg (same offer etc) and if so will not be able to use them to transfer balance

I've just got a Barclaycard with 0% for 10 months, fee free for BTs. You have to apply in branch though - just pick up a leaflet.

Mind you, I did notice a closing date of July 5th, but then again MSE seem to think it's still on so might be worth popping into a Barclay's branch to check.

Id never use them again after trouble I have had in past with them

Think I may go for Virgin Card - seems ok

I

Same here - got approved for the card then got the requests for paperwork in the post - er, like, no.

Ripped it up. They called me a few days and I just told them that it wasn't worth the effort so hopefully enough people say so. I assume they still do it - must be enough people who need the CC.

Virgin C/Card is the longest 0% (12months) I've found, which I'm going to go for as my BOS has just run out. 2 problems though; its only 3months for 0% on purchases, but I suppose that doesnt matter if you dont want to add anything to it. Also, yeah, 2% handling fee but from what I hear, seems like most c/card companies are doing that now...
