Can anyone help. Recently i have noticed a flickering when watching dvds on my phillips widescreen crt. I don't think it is caused by the dvds because when i pause a film the flickering is still there. It seems to be rectified by me reconnecting the scart lead, but does the same again minutes later. I have a £40 scart lead (oxygen free, gold lated scarts etc..) so it seems strange that that could be the problem. Anyone have any suggestions please?

Hmm is it just when you use the dvd player? have you got something like an xbox, ps2 or can youg et hold of another dvd player, and connect it with the same scart lead to the same scart socket you use now, the same with the xbox, ps2, obviously you can't use the same scart lead but connect it up via the same scart socket you use now. If you get no problems looks like it may be the dvd player itself

flicker still there when disconnect the dvd. Must be the tv. It is a flicker that becomes much more noticeable if i bang the brightness up. I can notice it when i am looking at blank screen (extension 1 for example) I notice the screen fluctuates a little. Not incredibly noticeable when watching dvds but noticeable all the same. I own a philips 28 inch crt. i know 50hz tvs flicker anyway but strange how i haven't noticed this before! Do LCDs suffer from this problem?

Is flicker in the image just a side effect of crt screens? Shouldnt the screen just look clear gray with no noise or wavey lines in the picture when the brightness is banged right up. I am seeing this inteference whenever i turn the brightness up. not just dvd but in general.
