Star Wars Episode 1 query

Hi, I have just been watching Star Wars Ep 1, bought from dvdcrave (australia), but I am unable to bring the subtitles up(it displays the little red circle with a line going through it), even though it says English 7 On, also the sound is also out of sync.

Is this a faulty disc?

Just discovered that the subtitles can be put on in the Main menu at the start, although isnt it strange that the subtitles cannot be put on during the film??

mattyp: it is a bit strange... i think it has something to do with sections of the films where you HAVE to see subtitles (for the alien language) and they don't want people to turn it off by accident.
