I doubt it. The movie never originally had a DD5.1 soundtrack, it was recorded in DD2.0. I can't see any benefits for any studio (or viewer) in remixing a brand new soundtrack from what is already a well above average Dolby Surround soundtrack. If you gotta buy it, get the HKL version....
The R0 disc that is available has a DD5.1 soundtrack, but it is awful as it is merely a mono soundtrack sounding out from all 5 speakers....
BTW, IMHO this is a very underated movie... I love the nods to Leon: The Professional.

??When was this ever confirmed if you don't mind my asking?
To my knowledge the ONLY confirmed Platinum's so far are Red Wolf and Naked Killer, anything else (especially already available titles) is purely speculation with Hitman I believe falling into the 'its a recent film, therefore has the most available extras and is easiest to produce a Platinum of' camp.
Go buy it now, its only £7.99 - £9.99 in the shops!

Jenz confirmed it on the BnB forum 3 months or so ago.
I can remember it quite well because loads of people posted about how such a poor film doesnt deserve a platinum release.
Maybe HKL have changed their minds about it because nothing more has been said about it, but what has been confirmed is that HKL have a heck of alot of unseen material for Hitman.
damn it Jimmy! you had to be right didn't you.
a quick search reveals the following thread (http://www.bulletsnbabesdvds.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Forum&file=index&action=viewtopic&topic=515&forum=1) where Jenz (or his wife who overheard it in a boutique) has revealed Hitman is a possible Platinum edition candidate.
All I can say is is they do re-release Hitman they damn well better re-release SITES and Drunken Master cos out of those 3 they actually have a reason to re-do the latter two (OAR being the main reason).

Expect a re-issue of Drunken Master & SITES with remastered transfers & in the OAR, but don't expect a platinum release of either.
Again info stolen, err...... I mean given to Jenz aka 007.:D

I've just found this on the BnB forum regarding Hitman which is another reason to hold off buying -
Just to remind everyone who is reading this, the HKL's release of The Hitman has dubtitles not subtitles. Meaning, the only subtitle option is only a text version of the spoken dialog from the English Dub. Even though the HKL's version is the best version of the movie out there, the Tai Seng DVD has subtitles that are translations of the original Chinese track.
I really would try and hold out for a re-issue if you like the film.
Can't say i'd read about the standard re-releases of SITES & DM, guess i'll go search BnB again :D Although it does seem that you're taking Jenz rumourmill as Gospel a little bit there Jim ;)

I really do think a re-issue of SITES & DM will happen.
Jackie Chan seems to be far more successful now than when SITES was 1st released, + HKL have got more money & they know demand is high for an OAR transfer.
Also a French company has recently given HKL a run for their money by producing a version of SITES which is far far better than the HKL release. So there's some insentive to go back and re-issue SITES at least.

Yeah, i thught Hitman was a mediocre title. I've seen all but one of the films HKL have released & i'd place Hitman as one of the 3 worse titles that's on the HKL label.
If you haven't seen it Duncan, i'd recommend that you rent it first, just in case you dislike it as well.
