Apparently it's a thing you put other things on top of. Prior to this little jaunt to Sainsburys in Farnborough, if you asked me what a trivet was I'd guess it was of the same family as the marmot.
Anyway if you find yourself desperately needing a trivet (I don't but bought them anyway), well worth checking out as they look quite nice.
