Been bugging me for ages and I should know it:(
It was (IIRC a 6 part series) set on the Isle of Wight and in Sweden and about some Swedish language students who came to the Island and some local lads who followed them back to Sweden. I'm pretty sure it was mid-80's on Friday's on ITV.
Any ideas?

Jesse Birdsall played the English boy who fell for the blonde Swedish student, ended up following her back to Sweden, went motorbiking riding with some of the Swedish lads, one got killed, might have been Anneka's brother. All ended in tears anyway.

Was this the one where the sauna scene was heavily publised in the national press as disgusting...hence more viewers tuned in..to find it was only a bit of muff on show?

Certainly was. Jesse Birdsall walks into the sauna in his trunks, all the Swedes are naked. So he runs out, takes off his trunks and goes back in, at which point they've all put their bikinis on. Ho Ho Ho. Then they all stripped off and went and jumped in a lake. Not exactly hardcore though, was it? :?:
