What about Blood the Last Vampire and Perfect Blue?
If you ignore picture quality then Oh My Goddess is good, though that is basically the US release with an MVM logo stuck on it.

Now that i think about it, it may not be anamorphic? (i'd have to check, but i dont think the R1 is either).

R2 isn't anamorphic, not sure about R1
Anyone know what the Gunbuster or Urusei Yatsura DVDs are like?

R1 is 1.33:1 full screen, so it loses some of the picture when compared to the R2.

Gunbuster is hacked, not to the detriment of the story, but so ineptly that it is embarrassing. The original tape replease had a few seconds of nudity cut, but the dvd cuts more and replaces it with a shot of a spaceship going past, which you've already seen about a minute before. Very very stupid.
Great series though, and you get all six episodes on one dvd.
Oh alright - the subs aren't great, there's no English dub (but I don't listen to them) and the picture quality will hopefully be improved upon when the US release comes out, but it is one of the best anime series released in the UK and I highly recommend Gunbuster to everyone. it starts as a silly school saga with teenage girls training to pilot giant robots, and ends with an epic widescreen black and white science fiction tragedy.
I love Gunbuster, can you tell?

Not sure what you mean there - the menus are fullscreen, but the film itself is widescreen.
Dagada> I have Urusei Yatsura but i havent watched it yet. I've had a quick look at it and it's a very simple disc - hard subs and no extras. The picture isnt great, but thats as much down to its age as anything else, and it doesnt seem to have any of the problems that Oh My Goddess had.
I agree with JonLaidlow on Gunbuster - it's an excellent series. Unfortunately, the disc has problems on my Tosh2109 - the drive keeps spinning up and down instead of going into the menus - the only way to watch it is to manually select the first chapter. Could be a faulty disc, but it works ok in the PC and on a friends Wharfdale, so i dont know.
I rarely go near UK releases anime wise, the first one (and last one) i purchased was the mononoke one, and i only got that for the limited edition box :D

I've got both of these, and it's pretty much as has been said above - both hard subbed with below-average picture quality.
Gunbuster - top class series, but the DVD is poor - the only one that manages to crash my PC everytime.
UY (Movie 1) - good fun if you have an inkling of the series' general plot. I've watched it and it is pretty much just as Numpsy said.
Does anyone know if Bubblegum Crisis has been cut at all?

I don't believe they've been cut, but i've heard nothing about the quality of the releases - most people I know who were die-hard BGC fans bought the US releases. I'd be interested to hear more as I quite like BGC, and sold off my VHS dub (shudder) a while ago.
On Gunbuster - I didn't know about the many players it doesn't work with. Plays okay on my Wharfedale 750. If anyone wants to see it it might worth finding an anime fan with the old tape versions and buying them cheap...
