this may be completely impossible, but here it goes..

I have my DVD connected to my (Toshiba) DD TV with a digital coax cable, I have just got a PS2 and have that connected to the same DD TV with the optical cable. Unfortunatly the TV seems to take the coax cable as preference, so to get the PS2 connection to work I have to yank the coax out, which is a pain moving a 50+kg TV all the time.

OK now the question.. can you get a splitter lead for the optical cable, so I can use 2 optical cables, going into the same hole in my TV?

There is a product about that will do exactly what you want, but there is a fiddly way around it, although it still involves unplugging cables.

You will need to get from Maplin, a co-axil to optical converter (£20) & optical to optical coupler (£5) & another optical lead long enough to reach from the TV socket to an easy accessable point.
Here goes
take the new optical lead & plug it into the TV, put the TV back where you want it, now attach the converter to the co-ax lead on the DVD player, & attach the coupler to the optical lead of the PS2, now all you need to do is plug the new optcal lead into either the converter or the coupler, depending on which source you want to use.

I know it isn't exactly what you wanted, but it does save you having to shift the TV every time.:D
