Is it just me, or are the words not timed to the lip movements?

I should hopefully receive my R2 copy tomorrow. I hope those sum-bitches didn't dub the dialogue.

The R1 version has audio dubbing, and is butchered by about 20 minutes, according to certain people. The film was originally intended for a more mature audience, but due to it's success, universal butchered it,and dubbed it.Once you notice the dubbing it will bug you.I cannot believe a company released the dvd in this way,but it is straight from the laserdisc.I posted in another thread a while ago that it was good to see it undubbed, but i checked again after a post from akira.I expect the R2 version will be just the same,so be prepared to be ticked off.

I take it no one else had this problem them?

Would this be a dodgy disc, or something to do with my player? Guess i'll have to get it tested on one of my friends player.

Isn't the R2 version panned and scanned? It says fullscreen on the box.

PS - Smokey & The Bandit was always a PG in America and here, though it did have a lot of S-words! Possibly the R1 DVD is the American TV version? Or was the film dubbed before its theatrical release?

DVD was a bit of a let down, but I didn't notice any lip-sync problems.

You may have a knackered dvd!

According to our good friends at the IMDB...

"The TV print needed extensive overdubbing to reduce the amount of profanity. In particular, Jackie Gleason's expression "Sum-bitch!" was replaced with "Scum-bum." This new word became a popular catch phrase with kids after the film made its TV debut."

I'm ********* off because the R2 is 4.3, and the R1 is Non-anamorphic. Come on, Universal! If Warner can release a 16:9 transfer of The Cannonball Run with Commentary, why can't you!
